    Cobalt Steel Drill Bit Sets

Tough and wear resistant, cobalt steel bits last at least twice as long as high-speed steel. They can also run up to 25% faster at higher temperatures without being damaged on hard materials, such as nickel.

Titanium Nitride (TiN) Coated—Drill at higher speeds and last longer than uncoated and oxide-coated bits, especially on tough materials like hardened steel and nickel.
Uncoated—Polished to eject chips, these are also known as bright finish bits.

Short-Flute Cobalt Steel Drill Bit Sets

These bits combine the toughness and wear resistance of cobalt with short flutes for rigidity. The shallow drilling depth makes them less likely to wobble than other bits of the same length, so they stay centered and drill straighter. Cobalt lasts at least twice as long as high-speed steel. It can also run up to 25% faster at higher temperatures without damaging the bit on hard materials such as nickel.

Black Oxide—The dark finish increases wear resistance and reduces friction to improve chip flow, so these bits can last 50% longer than uncoated bits.

Cobalt Steel Reduced-Round Shank Drill Bit Sets

More wear resistant than high-speed steel, these bits cut large holes with tools that have a standard-size chuck. The shank has a smaller diameter than the cutting tip and fits drill presses and portable drills. Cobalt steel bits last at least twice as long as high-speed steel. They can also run up to 25% faster at higher temperatures without being damaged on hard materials such as nickel. Also known as Silver and Deming bits.

    Metal Case

Drill and tap a variety of hole sizes. These taps and drill bits are for use on metal and plastic.
Uncoated Cobalt Steel Tap—Uncoated cobalt steel taps have higher strength and wear resistance than carbon steel and high-speed steel taps.
Plug Chamfer—Plug-chamfer taps are a versatile choice for most tapping applications. With 3-5 chamfered cutting threads, they require moderate torque and are often used for start-to-finish tapping of through holes and closed-end holes. However, they do not start threads as easily as taper chamfers. When using them to tap closed-end holes, be sure to leave sufficient space at the bottom for chips to accumulate.
Uncoated Cobalt Steel Drill Bit—Uncoated cobalt steel drill bits have higher strength and wear resistance than carbon steel and high-speed steel drill bits.

    Center Drill Sets

Image of Product. Front orientation. Center Drills. Center Drill Sets.
A variety of sizes to create precisely centered holes that mate with lathe centers or to drill and countersink in a single step to install fasteners.
Cobalt Steel—Tough and wear resistant, these center drills last at least twice as long as high-speed steel. They can also run up to 25% faster at higher temperatures without chipping on hard materials, such as nickel.
60° Countersink Angle—The most common center drill angle. The short and sturdy tip starts holes that perfectly match lathe centers.
Uncoated—Suitable for most tasks, but won't last as long as coated center drills.
