Press-Fit Drill Bushings

Also known as jig bushings, these drill bushings fit inside fixture plate holes to precisely guide drill bits, counterbores, reamers, and other cutting tools. They improve accuracy so your drilled holes and cuts are consistent from part to part. Known for their versatility, drill bushings are also used as spacers, shims, and machinery bushings.
Press into place with a manual or hydraulic press. Since these bushings are sized slightly larger than the hole for an extremely tight fit, they’ll stay put permanently. These are ANSI Type P bushings—also known as headless bushings—which means you don’t need to counterbore the hole to mount them flush.

Press-Fit Reamer Bushings

With ID tolerances sized specifically for reamers, these bushings ensure steady and precise hole finishing. Press them into a fixture plate with a manual or hydraulic press for permanent installation. Also known as headless bushings, these ANSI-type P bushings don’t need counterboring to be mounted flush. They are made of hardened, ground steel that holds its shape and resists wear, so they last for many cycles without needing to be replaced.

Thin-Wall Press-Fit Drill Bushings

Drill holes close together. These bushings have a thinner wall than typical bushings to fit side by side in a fixture plate. Also known as jig bushings, they precisely guide bits and other cutting tools to ensure holes and cuts are consistent from part to part. You can also use them as spacers, shims, and machinery bushings. Made of hardened, ground steel, they resist wear and last for many cycles without needing to be replaced. Since their wall is so thin, these bushings may be slightly oval when you receive them but will conform to the shape of your hole.
Press into place with a manual or hydraulic press. Since these bushings are sized slightly larger than the hole for an extremely tight fit, they’ll stay put permanently. These are ANSI Type P bushings—also known as headless bushings—which means you don’t need to counterbore the hole to mount them flush.

Finish-Your-Own Press-Fit Drill Bushings

Larger OD tolerances than standard press-fit bushings allow finishing. These bushings should be machine ground. Mount flush with jig plates for precise drilling. Drill bushings can also be used as spacers, shims, and machinery bushings.

Press-Fit Drill Bushings with Head

A flanged head on these bushings acts as a stop, so they won’t press through your jig even under extreme drilling pressure. They’re ANSI Type H bushings, also known as headed bushings. The head adds support and protects the jig from damage caused by heavy use, so they’re often used in jigs made of thin or soft materials. These bushings guide your drill bit, reamer, or other cutting bit to create accurate, consistent holes from one workpiece to the next. They’re also used as spacers, shims, and machinery bushings. Made of hardened, ground steel, they hold their shape and resist wear, so they last for many cycles without needing to be replaced.
To install, fit the bushing into a hole in your jig. In a standard hole, the head will sit above the jig plate; to mount flush, install in a countersunk hole. A chamfered edge on the bottom of the bushing helps center the bushing in the hole. Once it’s centered, press the bushing into place with a hydraulic or lever press.

Removable Drill Bushings

Replace worn bushings and quickly change IDs without needing to repeatedly use a lever press. Instead of pressing bushings in and out of your jig fixture, which can cause damage, these bushings slide in and out of sleeves (sold separately). By swapping in a bushing with a different ID, you can change the size of your bit and still use the same hole in your fixture. All are made to tight dimensional tolerances for consistent, accurate results, even as you change them in and out. They're also known as slip-fixed and renewable bushings.
Choose a sleeve with a length that matches the length of your bushing. To prevent bushings from spinning inside the sleeve as you drill, pair a standard sleeve with a lock screw, or use a locking sleeve. For faster placement in and removal from sleeves, use a handle.
Lock screws thread into a hole in your jig. The head of the screw fits into a notch on the bushing's head, which keeps the bushing from spinning.
Locking sleeves act as a sleeve and lock screw at the same time. They have a raised flange that fits into the notch on the bushing's head, keeping the bushing in place. Knurled sleeves grip the sides of a hole to prevent rotation. Press or mold them into plastic tooling. Smooth sleeves are slightly oversized for a snug fit. They’re usually installed in metal tooling—press them into place with a manual or hydraulic press.

Sleeves for Removable Drill Bushings

Avoid wear caused by repeatedly pressing bushings into your jig fixture. Instead, press fit these sleeves into the fixture one time, and then swap bushings with different IDs in and out to change the size of your bit. Also known as type L headless liner bushings, they're sized for use with removable drill bushings (sometimes called slip-fixed and renewable bushings). Made of hardened steel, they won't wear as you slide the bushings in and out.

Locking Sleeves for Removable Drill Bushings

Create a permanent base for removable bushings so you can swap them out as needed. These sleeves have a raised flange that slots into the notch on your bushing’s head to lock it in place. Unlike standard sleeves, they don’t require a separate lock screw. Choose a sleeve length that matches the length of your bushing.
Smooth sleeves are slightly oversized for a snug fit. They’re usually installed in metal tooling—press them into place with a manual or hydraulic press.

Threaded Drill Bushings

Skip the lever press—these bushings thread into a tapped hole in your fixture or a hand-held threaded sleeve. You can switch between bushings with different IDs without creating a separate hole. And unlike removable drill bushings, you don’t need to permanently install a sleeve first. These bushings are made to tight dimensional tolerances so you can drill accurately and consistently from part to part.

Drill Bushings for Plastic

Serrations line the sides of these bushings to keep them from spinning while you drill. Also known as jig bushings, they’re pressed or molded into plastic tooling to guide drill bits, counterbores, and reamers. They help you create consistent, accurate holes from part to part.

Secure-Hold Drill Bushings for Plastic

Designed to grip slippery plastic, the knurls on these bushings keep them from spinning while you drill. Their hold is stronger than serrated bushings, so they can withstand more force. Press or mold into plastic tooling to guide your drill bit and create accurate, consistent holes.

Removable Drill Bushings for Thin Metal
Unlike most bushings, these won’t buckle the material or distort the hole when installed in thin-gauge aluminum and steel fixture plates. They’re held in place by a lock ring (sold separately), so they’re easy to remove and reuse. Also known as jig bushings, they accurately guide drill bits, counterbores, reamers, and other cutting tools. Use them to make sure your drilled holes and cuts are consistent from part to part.

Drill Bushings for Soft Metal and Wood

Serrations on these bushings dig into wood, aluminum, and other soft metals to keep them from spinning while you drill. Also known as jig bushings, they fit inside fixture plates to guide drill bits, counterbores, and reamers. They improve accuracy so that your drilled holes and cuts are consistent from part to part.

Panel-Mount Dry-Running Sleeve Bearings

Permanently and securely install these self-clinching bearings into panels, with no need for precision-bored holes or machined mounts. They’re often used in areas with tight space restrictions. Install them into sheet metal panels with an air-powered or hydraulic press. They’re not for use in plastic panels. These bearings are self-aligning to compensate for small amounts of shaft misalignment. Made of acetal plastic, they won’t warp or swell when exposed to water, so they’re good for use in washdown environments.
