Wing Nut Expansion Plugs

Twist the wing nut on these plugs to expand the seal and close off pipe openings. Maximum air back pressure is the amount of pressure a plug can withstand without moving. Maximum water back pressure refers to the pressure resulting from the height of the water above the plug.
Style A aren’t recommended for pressure testing, so they’re often used as a dust cover. Style B have a wide top flange so they don’t fall into your pipe. They’re often used for plumbing pressure tests. Style C are the easiest to grip. The handle has more surface area than that of our other styles. Style F have flanges of the same size, so you can install them as deep as needed. Rated for higher pressures than our other styles, they’re ideal for leak testing.
Plugs with a zinc-plated steel plate have fair corrosion resistance. Plugs with a plastic plate weigh less than plugs with a metal plate.

Expansion Plugs with Bypass

Use the bypass tube on these plugs to add air, water, and other fluid to your pipeline or to relieve pressure while testing. The seal expands to temporarily close off pipe openings. Maximum air back pressure is the amount of pressure a plug can withstand without moving. Maximum water back pressure refers to the pressure resulting from the height of the water above the plug.
For Styles A-E and H-L, twist the wing nut to expand the seal.
Styles A and B have an NPS threaded bypass for routing moderately pressurized fluids.
Styles C and D have an NPT threaded bypass for making leak-tight connections.
Style H have a bypass with BSPP threads, also known as G threads, for making leak-tight connections.

Air-Inflatable Plugs
Conform to wide and out-of-round pipes with these inflatable plugs. Also known as pneumatic plugs, they're designed for temporary seals since they can lose pressure over time. They’re better for lower-pressure applications than water-inflatable plugs. Inflate them with a hand pump; an air compressor may overinflate the plug and cause damage.
Maximum air back pressure is the amount of pressure a plug can withstand without moving. Maximum water back pressure refers to the pressure resulting from the height of the water above the plug.
Plugs with a chain or eyebolt can be tethered through either so they don't get lost or stuck in your pipes during installation. For easy removal once testing is complete, pull on your tether.
Plugs with a natural rubber sleeve are protected from debris and sharp objects in your pipe, as well as rough pipe walls. This extends the plug’s life and ensures the seal stays intact.
Plugs with a canvas sleeve keep gas, odor, and debris from leaking out through the seal. This makes them good for high-temperature applications, such as in pipe that’s being welded. The sleeve also protects against scrapes from rough pipe walls. Use the loops on the outside to route hose through your pipe to vent while welding, or to connect lines for pulling these plugs through your pipe.
Plugs with a ribbed texture have better traction against pipe walls than plugs with a smooth texture. When sealing oily or polished walls, they’ll resist slipping.
Plugs with a pressure-relief valve release excess pressure to reduce the risk of overinflating and rupturing.

Air- and Water-Inflatable Plugs

Penetrate tight pipe junctures with the most flexible expansion plugs we offer. To inflate with air, use a hand pump (sold separately). Whether you fill with air or water, a pressure relief valve will prevent over expanding. Maximum air back pressure is the amount of pressure a plug can withstand without moving. Maximum water back pressure refers to the pressure resulting from the height of the water above the plug.

Air-Inflatable Plugs for Tee Connections

Often used for plumbing tests, these plugs thread into tees and inflate to block flow across the pipe. After your test is complete, deflate the bladder to drain the fluid from your line. Leave the plug installed while the draining the pipe—the threads create a leak-free seal, so no water will splash out. Also known as pneumatic plugs, they can lose pressure over time, so they’re designed for temporary seals. To inflate, use a hand pump (not included) since an air compressor might overinflate and burst them.
Maximum air back pressure is the amount of pressure a plug can withstand without moving. Maximum water back pressure refers to the pressure resulting from the height of the water above the plug.

Air- and Water-Inflatable Plugs for Wye-Joints

These extra-long plugs allow you to seal off two pipes at the same time. They have two separate inflation chambers to release back pressure gradually and prevent splash back as water clears the drain line.

Remote-Access Air-Inflatable Plugs

Plug underground sewage lines, water supply lines, and other pipe that’s hard to reach. These plugs attach to a 6-ft. extension pole with an adapter (both sold separately) so you can place them in confined spaces from a distance. Before placing them in your line, connect them to your air compressor with a hose to inflate them remotely. Also known as pneumatic plugs, they’ll seal wide and out-of-round pipe. Since they can lose pressure over time, they’re intended for temporary seals. Use them in lower-pressure applications than water-inflatable plugs.
Maximum air back pressure is the amount of pressure a plug can withstand without moving. Maximum water back pressure refers to the pressure resulting from the height of the water above the plug.
Adapters thread into a connector on the end of the plug. When installing the plug, adjust the adapter’s angle using the connector’s pull pin.
Poles snap into the adapter. For a longer reach, connect multiple poles together.

Air-Inflatable Plugs with Bypass
Conform to wide and out-of-round pipes with these inflatable plugs. Also known as pneumatic plugs, they're designed for temporary seals since they can lose pressure over time. Use the bypass tube on these plugs to add air, water, and other fluid to your pipeline or to relieve pressure while testing.
Inflate with a hand pump (sold separately); an air compressor may overinflate the plug and cause damage. Tether the plugs using either the eyebolt or chain/ring so they don't get lost or stuck in your pipes during installation. Pull on the tether for quick and easy removal once testing is complete.
Maximum air back pressure is the amount of pressure a plug can withstand without moving.
Maximum water back pressure refers to the pressure resulting from the height of the water above the plug.

Deep-Reach Wing Nut Expansion Plugs

Plate With
Brass Stem

Insert these plugs deep within your pipe to temporarily block off a line. Twist their wing nut to expand the seal. Maximum air back pressure is the amount of pressure a plug can withstand without moving. Maximum water back pressure refers to the pressure resulting from the height of the water above the plug.
Plugs with a stainless steel plate have excellent corrosion resistance.
Plugs with a plastic plate are lighter in weight than plugs with a stainless steel plate.

Expansion Plugs for Cleanout Tees

Seal cleanout tees when testing your drain, waste, and vent systems for pressure and leaks—no need to inflate these plugs with an air compressor or hand pump. To install, insert the plug end into your pipe so the curved foot is on the bottom threads of the cleanout tee, then push down the handle to lock it into the foot. The foot has a two-stage release latch: lift the handle one notch to release the plug and allow liquid to drain slowly, then lift the handle again until the foot fully disengages to take out the plug.
