About Files
Files, also known as American-pattern and machinists' files, are used to remove material quickly.
Precision files, also known as Swiss-pattern files, are made to exacting measurements to ensure smoothness and are useful for finishing delicate and intricate parts.

File Sets
Keep multiple files on hand for workpieces of different shapes and sizes.
All sets include American-pattern files, also known as machinists' files. Some sets also include Swiss-pattern files, which create more consistent finishes than American-pattern files. They have a round or tear drop shape.
Double Cut—Surface has two sets of diagonal teeth and is often used with heavier pressure than single cut for rapid material removal.
Don't see the set you need? Create your own with a tool roll and individual files.

For files without handles, length does not include the tang.
