    Hole-Enlarging Reduced-Shank Drill Bits

Image of Product. Front orientation. Drill Bits. Hole-Enlarging Reduced-Shank Drill Bits.
A simple way to enlarge an existing drilled hole, these bits are an economical alternative to reamers. They have four flutes that won’t catch on the inside of the hole like standard two-flute bits can, avoiding damage to the hole and your tool. The shank has a smaller diameter than the cutting tip, so you can ream large holes using tools that have standard-size chucks.
Gold Oxide—Like black oxide, this finish adds wear resistance and reduces friction for improved chip flow. Because it’s less prone to flaking off, it offers better rust protection when bits aren't in use.

    Hole-Enlarging Reduced-Shank Drill Bit Sets

Image of Product. Front orientation. Drill Bits. Hole-Enlarging Reduced-Shank Drill Bit Sets.
An economical alternative to reamers, these sets include four bit sizes for enlarging existing drilled holes. Bits have four flutes that won’t catch on the inside of the hole like standard two-flute bits can, avoiding damage to the hole and your tool. The shank has a smaller diameter than the cutting tip, so you can ream large holes using tools that have small-capacity chucks. Sets also contain four hole-starting bits.
Gold Oxide—Like black oxide, this finish adds wear resistance and reduces friction for improved chip flow. Because it’s less prone to flaking off, it offers better rust protection when bits aren't in use.

    Carbide-Tipped Steel

Carbide tipped to stay sharp longer than tool steel bits, these are better on tough and abrasive materials, such as plywood and hardwoods. They have multiple teeth that cut away large amounts of material to bore clean, flat-bottom holes in wood. The center guide point keeps the bit stable and centered for drilling straight, angled, and overlapping holes, like those used create joints. Also known as Forstner bits.

    Arbor

Use these bits to create large, shallow recesses in wood, such as mortises for hinge leaves or locks. Made of carbide-tipped high-speed steel, these bits provide a longer tool life and faster cutting speeds than standard high-speed steel bits. They do not have a pilot, so guide your router along a straight edge when hand routing to make accurate cuts.

Hinge-Mortise Cut Style—Hinge-mortise bits create shallow recesses.
Lock-Mortise Cut Style—Lock-mortise bits create deeper recesses for bulky lock hardware to ensure doors close flush. They require an arbor (sold separately) to connect them to your router.
