About Hearing Protection

Earmuffs and earplugs are rated by the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) guidelines, which are enforced by OSHA.

Earplugs

Protect your hearing in loud environments. Earplugs come in individually packaged pairs.

Roll-up plugs roll for insertion into your ear and then expand to conform to the shape of your ear canal. No-roll plugs slide right into your ear.

Pod and ribbed cone plugs have a flexible plastic grip that makes them easy to insert and remove without touching the actual plug. Ribbed plugs provide added hold to keep them from backing out of your ear.

Multi-color yellow and orange plugs are yellow with an orange stripe to indicate proper insertion depth.

Earplugs with headband form a seal over the entrance to your ear canal but don’t rest inside so they’re a good choice for frequent on/off use. When not in use, they sit around your neck to avoid getting dirty or misplaced. Earplugs should be worn in the position or positions that have a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) listed. Replacement cone- and ball- shaped earplugs include five pairs in one package.

Earplugs that cannot be sold to regions outside the United States fall under export restrictions.

Ambient-Noise Canceling Earplugs

Reduce exposure to loud background noise from nearby machinery without blocking out voices. Instead of muffling all sound like other earplugs, these soften sound to enable clear communication. Slide them right into your ear without rolling. Small earplugs fit most women; medium ones fit most men.

Earplugs with a sliding toggle come with six pairs of plugs in three sizes, so you can find the perfect fit for your ear. They let you change the noise reduction rating between 15 dB and 22 dB; slide the toggle with your finger to adjust the hearing protection as needed. These earplugs are good for jobs where you may perform especially loud tasks, such as turning on power tools. Because they have built-in noise filters, you can toggle between ratings while these earplugs are still in your ear—no need to take them out to swap out the filter. Embedded with magnets, they connect together when not in use for easy storage.
