Fixture plates are thinner and lighter in weight than subplates, so they're often used to build setups that are swapped in and out of machines.
A36 Low-Carbon Steel—A36 low-carbon steel plates are stronger than 7050 aluminum plates, and their threaded holes are tapped directly into the plate. Some also have unthreaded holes, which are jig-bored and lined with a precision bushing to help reduce wear and ensure accurate placement.
7050 Aluminum—7050 aluminum plates are lighter in weight than A36 low-carbon steel plates. All of their holes are threaded—they’re lined with hardened steel inserts to make them more durable, rigid, and wear-resistant.
For Threaded Holes and For Unthreaded Holes—Add chip plugs (sold separately) to keep chips and shavings from clogging or damaging unused holes.
