Hex Head Screw, Nut, and Washer Assortments

Keep the most common sizes of hex head screws, nuts, and washers on hand. The length of the screws is measured from under the head.

Assortments with multiple thread sizes help you replace damaged fasteners when you don’t have a thread checker handy—just test out sizes until you find what you need. Those that come in a cabinet have two removable drawers. Assortments with one thread size include screws in a variety of lengths.

Grade 5 and Class 8.8 steel fasteners are suitable for use on most machinery and equipment. Grade 8 and Class 10.9 steel fasteners can be used in high-stress applications, such as valves, pumps, motors, and automotive suspension systems. They are at least 25% stronger than Grade 5 and Class 8.8 steel fasteners.

Zinc-plated steel and zinc yellow-chromate plated steel fasteners resist corrosion in wet environments. They’re a good choice for most applications.

18-8 stainless steel fasteners are more corrosion resistant than zinc-plated and zinc yellow-chromate plated steel fasteners, so they’re better for outdoor use. They have good chemical resistance and may be mildly magnetic.

Match the thread spacing of mating components. Coarse threads are the industry standard; choose these fasteners if you don’t know the pitch or threads per inch. Fine threads are closely spaced to prevent loosening from vibration.
