    About Hex Nuts

Choose a hex nut with the right profile, material, and strength for your application.

    Hex Nuts

The most commonly used hex nuts, these are suitable for fastening most machinery and equipment.

Highly Corrosion-Resistant High-Strength Bumax 88 Stainless Steel—Comparable in strength to Grade 5 steel and as corrosion resistant as 316 stainless steel. These nuts are commonly used in demanding environments, such as marine and chemical processing applications.
Seize-Resistant Nitronic 60 Stainless Steel—With an inherently slippery surface, these nuts are less likely than 410 stainless steel nuts to stick and bind as you install them. Since they don't need coating or lubricant, they're often used in particle-free environments. They also stand up to salt water and mild chemicals, such as cleaners and degreasers.

    Lightweight Corrosion-Resistant Titanium

The best of both worlds, these hex nuts are lightweight like aluminum and more corrosion resistant than 316 stainless steel.
Grade 2 Titanium—Because Grade 2 titanium is 99% pure, it's even more corrosion resistant than other common titanium grades, such as Grades 5 and 9. These nuts are ideal for use in chemical-processing and water-treatment facilities since they stand up to strong acids and other harsh chemicals.
High-Strength Grade 5 Titanium—More than two times stronger than Grade 2 titanium due to the addition of aluminum and vanadium. These nuts also stand up to salt water, acids, and chemicals but won’t resist harsh chemicals like Grade 2 can.

Extreme-Strength 718 Nickel—Also known as Inconel 718, these nuts tackle high-stress fastening in harsh environments. They’re stronger than C276 nickel nuts and comparable to our strongest steel nuts. Expose them to extreme temperatures—1300° F down to -400° F—and corrosive elements, such as salt water, sulfuric acid, and other acids. If you need more corrosion resistance, look to C276 nickel nuts.

    Ultra-High-Temperature Molybdenum

Molybdenum—Use these nuts with molybdenum screws and washers in high-temperature oxygen-free environments, such as vacuum furnaces. Since they’re thermally conductive, heat passes through them quickly without deforming them. They’re stronger than ceramic nuts yet still handle similar temperatures with no trouble. However, they will corrode in high heat when oxygen is present. They’re also nonmagnetic.
