Choose the right hinge based on mounting style, clearance, leaf thickness, knuckle length, and other important dimensions.

    Surface-Mount Hinges with Holes

Image of Product. Front orientation. Hinges. Surface-Mount Hinges with Holes.
Our most widely used hinges are ready to mount to doors and frames. Since they don’t need a cutout, they’re easier to install than mortise hinges.
Nonremovable Pin—The tamper-resistant choice. Since the pin can’t be removed, the door can only be taken down by removing the hinge completely.
Black Powder-Coated Zinc Alloy—Adds durability and color to corrosion-resistant zinc alloy hinges.
Chrome-Plated Zinc Alloy—The plating adds a modern look and holds up better to moisture than painted finishes. Zinc alloy hinges resist rust but aren't as strong as steel hinges.

    Metal-Detectable Hinges with Holes

Image of Product. Front orientation. Hinges. Metal-Detectable Hinges with Holes.
Find broken pieces before they reach your food line. These hinges are easy-to-spot blue plastic with a metal additive that will set off metal detectors. Use them to comply with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs and prevent contaminated food from leaving your facility. Surface mount to doors and frames.
Nonremovable Pin—The tamper-resistant choice. Since the pin can’t be removed, the door can only be taken down by removing the hinge completely.
Blue Nylon—The most common plastic hinges. They're slippery and abrasion resistant, so they swing freely.

    Mortise-Mount Hinges with Holes

Image of Product. Front orientation. Hinges. Mortise-Mount Hinges with Holes.
Fit the leaves on these hinges into cutouts (mortises) to mount them flush with door and frame edges. They create a finished look and offer more security than surface-mount hinges.
Removable Pin—For doors you need to remove occasionally to make adjustments or access equipment.
Nonremovable Pin—The tamper-resistant choice. Since the pin can’t be removed, the door can only be taken down by removing the hinge completely.
Zinc-Plated Steel—A common choice for areas exposed to occasional moisture.
Steel—Best for dry environments since moisture will cause these hinges to rust.

    Friction Hinges

Image of Product. Front orientation. Hinges. Friction Hinges , Style 1.

    Style 1

Hold lids, panels, and doors open without props, locks, or springs. These hinges move smoothly into position and resistance keeps them there.
Painted Aluminum—Install these lightweight hinges where appearance and rust protection matter.
Torque—When selecting a hinge to use with a lid, first find the torque force needed to move the lid. Multiply the weight of the lid (in pounds) by the distance between the hinge and the center of the lid (in inches). For example: if the lid weighs 3 lbs. and the distance between the hinge and the center of the lid is 12", the torque force is 3 lbs. × 12"= 36 in.-lbs. Divide the torque force by the number of hinges. For example, if using two hinges 36 in.-lbs. ÷ 2 = 18 in.-lbs. each.

    Surface-Mount Hinges without Holes

Image of Product. Front orientation. Hinges. Surface-Mount Hinges without Holes.
Install these hinges your way by drilling holes or welding onto doors and frames. They offer more mounting flexibility than hinges with holes.
Removable Pin—For doors you need to remove occasionally to make adjustments or access equipment.
Nonremovable Pin—The tamper-resistant choice. Since the pin can’t be removed, the door can only be taken down by removing the hinge completely.
Low-Carbon Steel—Strong and the easiest to weld but will rust in damp environments.

Install glass doors with less risk of breaking them. Rest glass inside these hinges then tighten the set screws and shim plate against it. Hinges mount to the top and bottom edges of doors.
Chrome-Plated Steel—A shiny finish adds corrosion resistance, though it may chip with heavy use.
Black Painted Steel—The dark finish blends in or stands out.
Style 1—Slip the hinge pins into 11/32" Dia. × 5/16" Dp. holes.

These rod end bolts are good for wet and corrosive environments—for maximum mounting flexibility, cut the fully threaded shaft to whatever length you need. Also known as swing bolts and eyebolts, rod end bolts have no moving parts. They're designed to make pivoting or hinge movements in applications that don't need to compensate for misalignment.
303 Stainless Steel and 304 Stainless Steel—303 and 304 stainless steel rod end bolts won't rust in humid, wet, and washdown environments. They're stronger than brass bolts and nearly as strong as steel. They will rust when exposed to salt water and chemicals, however.
Black-Oxide 303 Stainless Steel—Black-oxide 303 stainless steel rod end bolts have a matte-black finish that adds some corrosion resistance but is mostly chosen for its looks.
316 Stainless Steel—316 stainless steel rod end bolts are our most corrosion resistant, and they're nearly as strong as steel rod end bolts. Use them in areas with salt water, chlorine, and chemicals without worrying about rust.
ASTM A193, ASTM A276, and ASTM A582—ASTM rod end bolts meet a standard for material.

    Clevis Rod End

Make quick adjustments to these rod ends by inserting and releasing the clevis pins without the need to bend them into place. Also called yoke-end linkages, they support pivoting movement along one axis when threaded onto shafts, rods, valve pistons, and other assemblies. All are zinc-plated steel for moderate corrosion resistance.
