Choose the right hinge based on mounting style, clearance, leaf thickness, knuckle length, and other important dimensions.

    Style 1

Change the resistance of these hinges by turning the screw. They hold lids, panels, and doors open without props, locks, or springs.
Acetal—Rigid and wear resistant, these hinges are a good choice for doors that are opened and closed frequently. They also have good chemical resistance and won’t soften when exposed to moisture.
Torque—When selecting a hinge to use with a lid, first find the torque force needed to move the lid. Multiply the weight of the lid (in pounds) by the distance between the hinge and the center of the lid (in inches). For example: if the lid weighs 3 lbs. and the distance between the hinge and the center of the lid is 12", the torque force is 3 lbs. × 12"= 36 in.-lbs. Divide the torque force by the number of hinges. For example, if using two hinges 36 in.-lbs. ÷ 2 = 18 in.-lbs. each.

Hold lids, panels, and doors open without props, locks, or springs. These hinges move smoothly into position and resistance keeps them there.
Black Painted Zinc Alloy—The dark finish blends in or stands out. Zinc hinges hold up to moisture but aren’t as strong as steel hinges.
Torque—When selecting a hinge to use with a lid, first find the torque force needed to move the lid. Multiply the weight of the lid (in pounds) by the distance between the hinge and the center of the lid (in inches). Support wide or heavy doors, gates, and utility boxes. The wide leaves of these hinges distribute the weight over a large area, reducing the risk of sagging.
304 Stainless Steel—The choice for wet and outdoor environments, these hinges resist rust. However, they won't hold up to the harsh chemicals that 316 stainless steel hinges can.

    Plastic Friction Hinges

A lightweight alternative to metal hinges for lids, panels, and doors. Instead of springs or props, these hinges use resistance to keep lids, panels, and doors open.

Style 3

Lightweight with no squeaky metal-to-metal contact, these hinges are good for plastic panels, lids, and gates. They have wide leaves that distribute weight to reduce stress and prevent sagging.
Black Nylon—The economical choice for infrequently used doors. These hinges are best for dry environments since they swell and weaken when exposed to moisture.

Pry-Resistant Lockout Hasps with Padlock Slot

Image of Product. Front orientation. Lockouts. Pry-Resistant Lockout Hasps with Padlock Slot.
A fold-over closing design hinders prying, while a slot instead of holes makes it easy to install multiple padlocks. Use these lockouts to lock out a single valve, switch, or other control on machinery and electrical equipment so it can't be used. Have each person attach a padlock before starting their work—the power can’t restart until all the locks are removed and maintenance is complete. When used with labeled or tagged padlocks, these lockouts help you comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 requirements to prevent injuries from controls being accidentally used during maintenance. Made of steel, these hasps are strong. They’re zinc plated to resist corrosion.

Lock out electrical panels, switches, and other power sources to keep machinery off during repairs. These hasps have multiple holes for multiple padlocks and tags, so each person can add their own as they start the job. Until the last padlock is removed, these hasps won’t open. They help you comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 requirements for the control of hazardous energy.
Steel—Steel hasps are stronger than aluminum and stainless steel hasps.
Epoxy Coated—Vinyl- and epoxy-coated hasps won’t scuff the surfaces they touch. Epoxy-coated hasps resist corrosion.
