Choose the right hinge based on mounting style, clearance, leaf thickness, knuckle length, and other important dimensions.

    Surface-Mount Hinges without Holes

Install these hinges your way by drilling holes or welding onto doors and frames. They offer more mounting flexibility than hinges with holes.
Removable Pin—For doors you need to remove occasionally to make adjustments or access equipment.
Nonremovable Pin—The tamper-resistant choice. Since the pin can’t be removed, the door can only be taken down by removing the hinge completely.
Galvanized Steel—An economical alternative to stainless steel, these hinges have a galvanized finish that resists rust in wet and outdoor environments.
Low-Carbon Steel—Strong and the easiest to weld but will rust in damp environments.
304 Stainless Steel—The choice for wet and outdoor environments, these hinges resist rust. However, they won't hold up to the harsh chemicals that 316 stainless steel hinges can.
316 Stainless Steel—Our most corrosion-resistant stainless steel hinges won't degrade when exposed to harsh weather, salt water, and most chemicals.
Aluminum—One-third the weight of steel, these hinges are often used on enclosures, carts, and other equipment where you want to limit the load.

The pin is attached to the frame leaf, so you can take off doors without removing the screws or pin from the hinge. Surface-mount hinges are the standard for most enclosure doors, panels, and lids. Since they don’t need a cutout, they’re easier to install than mortise hinges but won’t sit flush with the edge of your door.
To install hinges without mounting holes, weld into place or drill your own holes.
316 Stainless Steel—Our most corrosion-resistant stainless steel hinges won't degrade when exposed to harsh weather, salt water, and most chemicals.
Door Mounting Location—To choose a door mounting location, stand on the pull side of the door. Use a right-side hinge if the hinge is on the right, or a left-side hinge if it’s on the left.

Commonly installed on interior and exterior wood doors, these hinges have a different hole pattern than standard hinges. They also let you work around worn mounting holes when replacing hinges with the standard half-moon pattern. The leaves fit into cutouts (mortises) to mount hinges flush with door and frame edges. Also known as nontemplate hinges.
Removable Pin—For doors you need to remove occasionally to make adjustments or access equipment.
Nonremovable Pin—The tamper-resistant choice. Since the pin can’t be removed, the door can only be taken down by removing the hinge completely.
Steel—Best for dry environments since moisture will cause these hinges to rust.
Primed Steel—Get a head start on painting with hinges that have primer already applied.

    Plastic Piano Hinges without Holes

Image of Product. Front orientation. Hinges. Plastic Piano Hinges without Holes.
Made of a single piece of plastic, these hinges have no pins to rust or collect debris and never need lubrication. The flexible joint operates silently, unlike metal hinges that can creak or squeak. However, these are not as strong as piano hinges with pins or gears. Drill your own holes to install.
PETG—Chemical and impact resistant. Softer than acrylic hinges, these are less likely to crack but can get scratched.
Acrylic Plastic—A good choice for lightweight, see-through panels and covers. These hinges are strong and scratch resistant, but they can crack from impact.
PVC—Our most chemical-resistant plastic piano hinges won't degrade when exposed to strong acids and bases.

Work around worn-out holes with hinges that have a different pattern than the standard half-moon. A spring inside these hinges swings doors closed behind you. Fit the leaves into cutouts (mortises) to mount hinges flush with door and frame edges.
Self-Close—These hinges automatically swing doors closed.
Adjustable Closing Tension—Fine-tune the hinge's tension to account for weight, wind, or pressure. Adjust using the included tool.
Primed Steel—Get a head start on painting with hinges that have primer already applied.
Black Painted Steel—The dark finish blends in or stands out.
Brass-Plated Steel—Get the look of brass without sacrificing strength.
Chrome-Plated Steel—A shiny finish adds corrosion resistance, though it may chip with heavy use.
Weight Capacity—For hinges with a capacity of 90 lbs., capacity is based on three hinges per door with a maximum door size of 7' Ht. × 3' Wd.

    Plastic Hinges with Holes

Image of Product. Front orientation. Hinges. Plastic Hinges with Holes.
Moisture and chemical resistant, these hinges hold up where metal hinges could break down. You'll often find them on enclosures, cabinets, and other equipment.
Pinless—With a flexible joint instead of a pin, these hinges are free of gaps or grooves that can trap dirt and debris. They also eliminate lubricants and metal-to-metal contact for use where contamination is a concern, such as mixing containers.
Polyolefin—These hinges withstand fatigue from frequent opening and closing. They also resist mild chemicals, oil, and UV light.
