    Turn the handle to move the jaw on these basic vises. They mount directly to your drill press for drilling, tapping, and reaming applications.     Compact Milling-Machine Vises

    The small size allows multiple vises to be mounted on a single machine table. Frequently used in 4- and 5-axis milling machines, these vises can hold a workpiece in multiple ways.
    Use the smooth, flat face of the jaws to grip like a conventional machine vise. Raise the workpiece by resting it on the jaws' step to allow more access for cutting tools; serrated teeth along the edge ensure a firm grip. Use the 45° dovetail to hold a matching dovetail machined into your part.
    Vises are self-centering—the jaws move inward at the same time to consistently position your workpiece in the center of the vise.

    Lever Jaw Lock—Lever-locking vises secure a workpiece when you pull the lever down. To release the jaw, pull the lever up.
    Pump-Action-Lever Jaw Lock—Pump-action lever-locking vises allow you to adjust the tension holding the workpiece by pumping the lever. Pull the lever all the way down to lock; pull up to release.
    Screw Jaw Lock—Screw-locking vises engage and adjust the tension with a turn of the screw. Turn in the opposite direction to disengage. They have one smooth jaw and one grooved jaw for clamping flat, round, and uneven workpieces.
    Open Base—Vises with open base allow you to drill through your workpiece without hitting the bottom of the vise.

    Ultra-Precision Machine Vises

    Designed for precision grinding and inspection, the construction of these vises ensures workpieces are held perfectly square. To move the jaw, remove the screw using a 1/4" hex key (not included) and manually slide the jaw into position. Then replace the screw and tighten to firmly grip the workpiece. The base and three sides of the vise are ground flat to a parallel tolerance of 0.0002", enabling mounting on its base, either side, or upright. Mount through the base with screws or use setup clamps (not included). Vises can be used on Bridgeport-style milling machines as well as drill presses and surface grinders. They are also known as toolmakers’ vises.

    High-Precision Milling-Machine Vises

    The vise body and stationary jaw are one piece for a repeatable clamping accuracy of ±0.0005", even under heavy loads. Ground flat to a parallel tolerance of 0.0005" on the base and three sides, these vises ensure accuracy whether mounted on the base, either side, or upright. They are designed for use with 3- and 4-axis CNC milling machines. To hold wider workpieces, you can attach the jaws to the outside ends of the jaw holders.

    Air-Powered Machine Vises

    Compressed air controlled by a foot pedal allows hands-free operation. Step on the pedal to instantly close the moving jaw; step again to release it. Use these vises in production applications with frequent insertion and removal of workpieces on Bridgeport-style milling machines and drill presses. Vises with a jaw height of 1 1/4", 1 5/16", and 2 1/2" can also be used on surface grinders.
    To calculate the gripping force on your workpiece, multiply your inlet air pressure by the gripping force factor. Add an air regulator to control force.

    Single Acting—Single-acting vises require the jaw to be manually set to the desired position before use, so these vises are best for repetitive clamping of consistent workpiece sizes. Once the jaw is set, activating the air pressure will move the jaw up to 5/8" to clamp. When air pressure is released, a spring return inside the air cylinder returns the jaw to the set position.
    Double Acting—Double-acting vises use air pressure to open and close the jaws without manual adjustment, making these vises a good choice when clamping workpieces of varying size.

    Pivoting-Head Drill-Press Vises

    Hold work at any angle up to 90°. Loosen the nuts on either side of the vise to tilt and adjust the angle; tighten to lock in place. Mount these vises directly to your drill press for drilling, tapping, and reaming applications. They have one smooth jaw and one grooved jaw for clamping flat, round, and uneven workpieces.
