Style A locks have an aluminum body that resists corrosion better than locks with a steel body, but they’re not as strong. Their shackle is either chrome-plated steel or chrome-plated boron alloy, both of which resist corrosion better than a hardened steel shackle. The chrome plating gives them an added layer of protection and strength. Locks with a boron alloy shackle have the hardest and most cut-resistant shackle material.
