Files, also known as American-pattern and machinists' files, are used to remove material quickly.

Precision files, also known as Swiss-pattern files, are made to exacting measurements to ensure smoothness and are useful for finishing delicate and intricate parts.

Double Cut

Get into tight angles, corners, and slots. These files do not include a handle but do have a tang that fits into a handle. Length does not include the tang.

Double Cut—Surface has two sets of diagonal teeth and is often used with heavier pressure than single cut for rapid material removal.

Single Cut—Surface has one set of diagonal teeth and is often used with light pressure to slowly remove material and sharpen tool-cutting surfaces.

Edge with no teeth protects adjacent surfaces when filing.

Black-oxide finish resists rust and clogging.
