Edge-Straightening Knife Steels

Also known as honing rods, these knife steels smooth tiny bends in your blade edge to maintain its sharpness. Unlike sharpeners, they don’t remove metal; they just straighten it. Use them between sharpening sessions to keep your blade in shape.

Edge-Straightening and Sharpening Knife Steels

Remove heavy surface defects to restore warped and worn blades back into cutting shape. Coated with an abrasive, these knife steels remove metal to sharpen your blade while also straightening it.

Diamond Abrasive—Remove heavy amounts of material to fix deep imperfections.

Ceramic Abrasive—Remove light amounts of material to refine and polish your blade edge. They're often used as a finishing step after coarser material removal or for regular touch-ups on blades that are still somewhat sharp.
