Quick-Change CNC Lathe Knurling Tools and Holders
Cut down on setup time for heavy duty knurling with this system of tools and holders. Each holder accepts multiple tools, so you can install the holder on your lathe once, then swap out the tool to switch tasks. Knurls are included with each tool. They’re made of heat-treated, high-speed tool steel for strength and shock resistance. A titanium nitride coating prevents wear.
Tools for cutting have knurls with sharp teeth that remove material. They’re used to create deeper, more precise patterns than forming tools, especially on harder materials. Tools for forming have knurls with smooth, rounded teeth that displace material on the surface of your workpiece. They’re best for creating shallow patterns on soft materials.
Angled tools position straight-patterned knurls at an angle to create a diamond pattern on the workpiece. Bump tools press against the side of the workpiece to align it with your lathe. They’re good for narrow knurling applications. Straddle tools clamp the workpiece from both sides, so the knurling pressure is absorbed by the tool rather than your lathe spindle. Shoulder tools provide additional clearance to knurl all the way up to the workpiece shoulder.
Teeth per inch (TPI) determines how fine your pattern is. The higher the number, the smoother, more closely spaced your pattern will be. A tool handle is usually knurled with 30 TPI.

Three-Wheel Lathe Knurling Tools and Holders

Press uniform, high-precision knurls into parts with minimal pressure. These tools are good for small-diameter or long parts because they use less pressure than one- and two-wheel knurling tools, which can bend the part. The adjustable scroll gear supports a range of workpiece diameters. The knurls have smooth, rounded teeth. They distribute pressure evenly to maintain quality and efficiency—even in high-volume production runs. Use them in CNC lathes, turret lathes, and automatic screw machines. Pair them with a holder (sold separately) to fit your lathe.
