About Replacing Tubular Fluorescent Light Bulbs
More
Single-Pin Base Tubular Light Bulbs
Swap new fluorescent light bulbs into your single-pin base fixture, or upgrade them to LED. Select a light appearance to match your existing lighting. Bulbs with more than one light appearance have a switch, which allows you to match other lights in the room.
LED bulbs last longer and are more efficient than fluorescent bulbs. They work with sockets that are wired directly to the power source. Ballast compatible bulbs also work with most instant-start electronic ballasts. Check if your ballast is compatible by selecting a part number and clicking product detail. Plastic-coated glass bulbs are shatter resistant. If the glass breaks, the coating keeps shards from falling.

Four-Pin Wedge Base Plug-In Compact Light Bulbs
Often used in task lights, these bulbs are comparable to PL, Dulux, and Biax bulbs. Brightness is measured in lumens; the higher the lumens, the brighter the bulb. Bulbs with a warm light appearance have yellow tones. Bulbs with a neutral light appearance are often used in workspaces. Bulbs with a cool light appearance have white/blue tones and are good for inspecting. A bulb’s estimated yearly cost is based on 3 hours of usage per day at $0.11 per kWh.
CFL (compact fluorescent) bulbs are energy efficient, but take several seconds to reach full brightness. They cannot be sold to the listed areas because they do not meet local efficiency standards and exceed local regulatory limits on mercury (for disposal information, visit www.epa.gov/cfl).
