About Lubricants

Solid Tapping and Threading Lubricants

These easy-to-apply stick lubricants won't drip or run for a cleaner workspace. Use them for tapping many types of metal, as well as plastic and rubber. Apply to taps to make cutting faster and easier, improve surface finishes, and extend tool life. They are chlorine free, for use where chlorine waste disposal is a concern, and sulfur free.
Solid and Paste Milling, Turning, and Sawing Lubricants

Reduce mess and waste with these easy-to-apply, nonstaining lubricants. They reduce friction between your cutting tool and workpiece to make cutting cycles faster and easier, improve surface finishes, and extend tool life. All resist running and dripping. They are chlorine free, for use where chlorine waste disposal is a concern, and sulfur free.
Lubricants in a stick are solid and can be applied to cutting surfaces, such as band saw blades and drills bits. Lubricants with graphite are for high-heat applications. Apply to hot surfaces (400° to 850° F), and they melt to coat the surface evenly.
Lubricants that cannot be sold to the regions listed are restricted by product labeling requirements.

Solid and Paste Milling, Drilling, and Turning Coolants

An alternative to nearly dry machining, apply these coolants to tools before milling and machining to reduce heat with minimal cleanup. They’re often used with shallow drilling, reaming, and tapping, as well as on saw blades. Remove from tools and work surfaces with alcohol, methyl ethyl ketone, or a parts washer. They are chlorine free, for use where chlorine waste disposal is a concern, and sulfur free. Use at full strength.
Coolant in a stick is solid. Touch it to cutting tools or work surfaces.

Corrosion-Resistant Antiseize Lubricants

Corrosion-resistant additives allow these lubricants to withstand caustic environments, such as steel mills and power plants. Also known as thread lubricants, antiseize lubricants prevent threaded fasteners and close-fitting parts from locking together due to corrosion, contamination, or heat.
Lubricants with aluminum and with copper have good heat resistance. Lubricants with graphite have good chemical and corrosion resistance, along with excellent heat resistance. Loctite® Silver Grade Anti-Seize can be used with fine threads. Lubricants in a stick won’t run or drip.

Electrically Conductive Antiseize Lubricants

Copper allows these lubricants to conduct electricity, while graphite gives them good chemical and corrosion resistance. Also known as thread lubricants, antiseize lubricants prevent threaded fasteners and close-fitting parts from locking together due to corrosion, contamination, or heat.
Loctite® C5-A Copper-Based Anti-Seize lubricants can be used with salt water and petroleum-based chemicals. LB 8065 comes as a stick for no-mess application.
Dielectric strength measures the maximum voltage a lubricant can withstand without losing its insulating properties. The higher the dielectric strength, the better its quality as an insulator.
Electrical resistivity is a measure of how well a material opposes the flow of electricity. The lower the rating, the more electricity it conducts.
