Choosing an Electrical Switch

Make or break an electrical circuit. These contact blocks mount to manual switches and transmit an electrical signal when the switch actuator is engaged. You can stack multiple blocks, so a single switch can control several circuits. This is helpful in setups that require multiple systems to turn on or off at the same time. For example, the switch on a conveyor line could turn off the conveyor and turn on a diverter and alarm.

22 mm Panel-Mount Build-Your-Own Plastic Switches

Choose an actuator and contact block to make your own switch. Actuators are rated NEMA 3S, 4X and 13 for protection from dust, outdoor environments, corrosion, oil, and washdowns. They mount into standard panel cutouts. Use legend plates (not included) to label switches. BACO Controls switches are only compatible with BACO manufactured legend plates.

Push-button actuators are best for applications where you need quick starts and stops. Those that are illuminated make switches easier to see in low light. Round illuminated push-button actuators require a contact block with a bulb holder. If wiring the switch and the bulb to the same circuit, the circuit voltage must not exceed bulb voltage. Oval illuminated push-button actuators only require a contact block.

Lever actuators must be gripped and twisted to activate. This means they’re a good choice in areas where you don’t want switches to activate if someone accidentally bumps into them.

Key actuators prevent accidental activation because they require a key to turn on and off. They are keyed alike, so they will all open with the same key.

IP67 rated actuators are protected from dust and temporary submersion.

Padlockable covers prevent unauthorized use.

Mounting tools make it easier to install switches in crowded panels.

A quick push is all it takes to actuate these simple switches. Mount them in a standard panel cutout diameter. The contact block is rated IP20. Switches include enough contact blocks to control the number of circuits listed. For an easy way to tell different switches apart, choose a different actuator color for each or label them with legend plates (not included).

Illuminated switches are easy to see in dim and dark areas.

NEMA and IP rated, all switches seal out dust, water from washdowns, and splashing oil or coolant. NEMA 3S rated switches function in cold temperatures, even when covered in ice. IP69K rated switches are protected from high-pressure washdowns.

Note: Illuminated switches include a bulb. If wiring the switch and the bulb to the same circuit, the circuit voltage must not exceed bulb voltage.

Plastic 22 mm Emergency Stop Panel-Mount Push-Button Switches

Immediately cut power with a single push. These switches meet EN 418 for compliance with European machine directives for emergency stop applications. All have positive force contacts that will open a circuit when actuated even if a spring fails or the contacts stick. They're rated IP66, IP69K, NEMA 3S, NEMA 4X, and NEMA 13, and are UL and C-UL Recognized Components. Switches include enough contact blocks to control the number of circuits listed. Contact blocks are rated IP20 and are UL and C-UL Listed.

Key reset switches are keyed alike, so if you buy multiple switches they will all reset with the same key.

Actuate these switches with the push of a button. Their buttons are distinct colors to help you quickly spot switches without labels. Install them in a standard panel cutout. Rated NEMA 4X and NEMA 13, these switches withstand corrosion, washdowns, and oil/coolant spraying.

Illuminated switches are visible in low light. They include a bulb. If wiring the switch and the bulb to the same circuit, the circuit voltage must not exceed bulb voltage.

Guards (sold separately) protect switches from damage and prevent accidental actuation. They work with 1 9/16" diameter mushroom switches that control one circuit.

These switches include enough contact blocks to control the number of circuits listed. Additional contact blocks (sold separately) can be added to control more circuits, or replace the included contact block.

Plastic 22 mm Panel-Mount Lever Switches

These switches are rated IP66, IP69K, NEMA 3S, NEMA 4X, and NEMA 13, and are UL and C-UL Recognized Components. They include enough contact blocks to control the number of circuits listed. Contact blocks are rated IP20 and are UL and C-UL Listed.

Three-position switches are off in the center position.

Illuminated switches include a bulb. If wiring the switch and the bulb to the same circuit, the circuit voltage must not exceed bulb voltage.

Mounting tools (sold separately) make it easier to install switches in crowded panels.

22 mm Panel-Mount Key Switches

Limit access to sensitive equipment—these switches require a key to actuate. They're rated IP66, IP69K, NEMA 3S, NEMA 4X, and NEMA 13, and are UL and C-UL Recognized Components. Switches include enough contact blocks to control the number of circuits listed. Contact blocks are rated IP20 and are UL and C-UL Listed. Use BACO legend plates (not included) to label switches.

Mounting tools (sold separately) make it easier to install switches in crowded panels.

Additional contact blocks (sold separately) can be added to control more circuits, or to replace the included contact block.
