Cable-Pull Switches

Connect these switches to a cable to control circuits from a distance. They're typically used to turn off production lines and material handling systems. Mount in any position and tug on the cable to send a switching signal. Equipment will not start up again until the switch is manually reset.

Cable-Pull Emergency Stop Switches with Restart Switch
Tug the cable to stop your line, then follow it back to the restart switch. Typically separate devices, the stop and reset controls are in one compact unit. As a secondary shutdown option, a push-button stop switch is also built in. A secondary push-button stop switch ensures you can halt equipment immediately, even when the cable is out of reach. Because they let you control circuits from a distance with a quick tug, these cable-pull stop switches are often used to turn off production lines and material handling systems. To notify your team on the floor that you’ve stopped equipment, a power indicator lights up when you pull the cable.
Use the tension indicator to confirm that cable is set up correctly. Circuits remain open until you tension the cable and hit the restart button. Cable is not included.
Two-direction switches support twice the total cable distance of one-direction switches. With pulls on each side, you can route cable in two opposite directions. These switches are often placed at the midpoint of conveyors and other long runs of equipment.

Enclosed Motor Switches

These switches are housed in a plastic enclosure. Since they’re already protected, you can mount them to a wall if there’s no space left in your electrical panel. You can also turn them into a handheld control and move them around your workstation by attaching a cord and cord grip. The enclosure is PBT polyester, so it won’t swell in moist environments. Easy to operate even if you’re wearing gloves, flip the toggle switch up and down. Use these switches to turn motors on and off, or with lighting and electric heat circuits. They do not provide overload protection.

Reversing Motor Switches

Use these switches to control the on/off function of motors that run forward and backward, such as motors for conveyor belts. They can also be used with other circuits such as lighting and electric heat circuits, but do not provide overload protection. Also known as drum switches.
Switches that have maintained/momentary switch action are supplied to stay switched (maintained), but can be wired to spring back (momentary).

Enclosed Heavy Duty Motor Starters

Housed in a durable steel enclosure, these switches have sealed coils for protection against moisture, heat, dirt, and mechanical and thermal stress. They have a solid state overload relay that extends motor life in demanding applications and protects it from overloads—starters will shut the motor off if current exceeds the full-load current rating. The relay is adjustable; set it for the exact overload current needed. All have auxiliary contacts to send a signal or connect to another device, such as an alarm or indicating light. Also known as NEMA starters.
Note: The full-load current rating of your motor must fall within the starter’s overload current range. Match input voltage, also known as coil voltage, to your control circuit; motor voltage may be different. Look for the full-load current rating on the motor’s faceplate, or estimate the current rating (given the motor’s horsepower and voltage).
NEMA contact sizes 0 and 1 are universal mount and fit Cutler-Hammer, GE, and Square D installations.

Enclosed Heavy Duty Build-Your-Own Manual Motor Starters
Combine a switch with a thermal overload element to build a starter that can handle high-current-rated motors. All are housed in a durable steel enclosure. They’re also known as NEMA starters.
Thermal overload elements shut motors off if current exceeds the full-load current rating. Three elements are required. To Order: Please specify the full-load current rating of your motor. If the full-load current rating is not shown on the motor’s faceplate, estimate the current rating (given the motor’s horsepower and voltage).

Manual Transfer Switches

If there’s a power outage, flip the toggle for each circuit on these switches to backup power. Each circuit can also be turned off completely. To prevent injury and damage to your generators, they are open transition, meaning the contacts disconnect from one power source before connecting to another. This is also known as break-before-make switching.
Use them with a portable generator.
NEMA 1 switches should be used indoors. Those with a power inlet box create a connection point between the switch and a portable generator. The inlet box is rated NEMA 3R, so it can be mounted on the outside of an exterior wall.
