To control heaters, add a thermostat, humidistat, timer, or switch.

Heaters are rated IP30, which means objects larger than 2.5 mm, such as screwdrivers, can’t fit inside and accidentally contact live circuits. Warm the air in your enclosure to keep electrical components at the ideal operating temperature. These heaters also reduce humidity, preventing condensation that causes corrosion and short circuits. The fan blows hot air upward so it heats the enclosure evenly.

Heaters with thermostat are adjustable, so you can decide when the heater turns on and off. Heaters with humidistat switch on if the enclosure reaches 65% relative humidity or more, when condensation is most likely to form. Adapt heaters without built-in control to fit your system—add your own thermostat, humidistat, timer, or switch.

A sensor attached to the heater might signal that it’s warm enough near the heater, while other parts of the enclosure are still cold. Moving the sensor away from the heater helps you keep electronics warm and dry, anywhere in the enclosure. For even heat, a fan blows upward to circulate warm air.

Choose a heater that clips to DIN rail or one that mounts to the bottom of your enclosure. Add a sensor (sold separately) that reaches the part of your enclosure you need to keep warm.
