Moisture Detectors

Check the moisture content of wood and other building materials. Detector uses two noninsulated electrode pins that are mounted directly to the meter. For deeper penetration, two insulated electrode pins attach to the meter with a 3-ft. cord.
This unit has three scales. The wood scale measures moisture from 6% to 60% in lumber, studs, and flooring. The drywall scale measures moisture from 0.1% to 6%. A comparative reference scale reads from 0 to 100 and is used in nonwood materials such as concrete, insulation, and roofing. Detector accumulates up to 100 readings and gives you an average.

Bench-Top Moisture Scales
Quickly weigh the moisture in an object or substance. Also called moisture analyzers, these scales help with a variety of tasks, from measuring the liquid content of concrete to the concentration of medications. They work by weighing your sample before and after it’s been dehydrated to determine its moisture content. A halogen light or carbon fiber heating element quickly and evenly heats samples inside a reflective chamber.
Use the quick setup function to automatically analyze a sample and create a testing method. These scales have a standard drying speed setting that heats your sample without over drying it. Use the fast setting to quickly heat the chamber to drying temperature, however this setting is more likely to over-dry a sample. To stop a test, there are three different modes—manual, automatic, and timed. Automatic mode allows you to set your own criteria to stop the test once moisture loss is no longer detected. To zero the scale after a weighing pan has been placed on it, simply press the tare button. Print your measurement data or send it to your PC using a USB or RS-232 cord (not included).
These testers come with a reusable pan to place your sample in. For samples that could spit and spatter when heated, place your sample on the rough side of the included fiberglass pad. Use a disposable aluminum pan (sold separately) for samples that are difficult to clean.
