About Cam Latches and Locks
More
Washdown Slotted-Drive Cam Locks
Help keep your sealed enclosure's contents safe from dust and water damage—these locks help maintain an enclosure's IP or NEMA rating for washdowns. All open with a slotted screwdriver, so they’re good for areas where you don’t want a complicated keying system.
Locks with a fixed latching distance are best when you know the precise distance you need. Since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position, these are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance. Locks with multiple latching distances include multiple cams, so you can change the fixed latching distance.
Stainless steel and plastic locks are more corrosion resistant than zinc locks. They won’t rust in areas that are constantly exposed to moisture. Plastic locks are also nonconductive and lighter in weight. However, they’re easier to drill into or tamper with than the metal locks.
Locks with a pull tab make it easier to open doors than locks without a tab.
IP69K rated locks help your enclosure stand up against high-temperature, high-pressure washdowns.

Snap-In Keyed Cam Locks
Quickly snap these locks into a through-hole cutout—there’s no need to fasten them with a screw. All fit snugly in their cutout to stand up to the same vibration as a traditional cam lock will. Also known as quarter-turn locks, these locks have an arm that rotates 90° to secure enclosures. Each cam has a fixed latching distance. Since you won’t have to adjust the cams into position, these locks are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance. Choose these locks if you need locks that each open with a different key.
Plastic locks resist corrosion better than zinc locks so they’re best for damp and humid environments. They also help maintain your sealed enclosure's IP rating for low-pressure washdowns to help keep their contents safe from water damage. All have a pull tab that makes it easier to open doors than other locks that don’t have an added grip. They mount in a standard installation hole.

Snap-In Square-Drive Cam Locks
Quickly snap these locks into a through-hole cutout—there’s no need to fasten them with a screw. All fit snugly in their cutout to stand up to the same vibration as a traditional cam lock will. Also known as quarter-turn locks, these locks have an arm that rotates 90° to secure enclosures. All are made of plastic, so they won’t break down in damp and humid environments. They also help maintain your sealed enclosure's IP rating for low-pressure washdowns to help keep their contents safe from water damage.
These locks open with a square key (sold separately), so they're more secure than locks that open with a hex or slotted driver yet still match a common keying system for industrial enclosures and other machinery. They have a concealed design to stop others from tampering with them using pliers.
The cutout for these locks requires a special through-hole shape. All locks include multiple cams, so you can change their fixed latching distance. Since you won’t have to adjust the cams into position, these locks are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance.

High-Pressure Washdown Two-Way-Drive Cam Locks
An O-ring keeps water from entering through the lock during high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns. This helps you maintain an IP69K rating on sealed enclosures, such as those found in food processing plants. Open these locks with a two-way key (sold separately). Often called a double-bit key, it matches a keying system that’s common for industrial enclosures and other machinery but is more secure than a hex key or screwdriver. These locks also have a flat, concealed design that stops others from tampering with them using pliers.
To accommodate different latching distances, these locks come with three cams. Each cam has a fixed latching distance. Since you won’t have to adjust the cams into position, they’re quick to install. The cam rotates 90° to secure your enclosure, so these locks are also known as quarter-turn locks.
Stainless steel and plastic locks are more corrosion resistant than zinc locks. Plastic locks are the lightest in weight and do not conduct electricity. However, they’re easier to drill into compared to metal locks.

Snap-In Two-Way-Drive Cam Locks
Quickly snap these locks into a through-hole cutout—no need to fasten them with a screw. They fit snugly in their cutout to stand up to the same vibration that traditional cam locks withstand. These locks open with a two-way key, also called a double-bit key. This means they match a keying system that’s common for industrial enclosures, but they’re more secure than locks that open with a hex key or screwdriver. Their flat, concealed design also stops others from tampering with them using pliers.
These locks include one cam with a fixed latching distance. Since you don’t have to adjust the cam into position, they’re faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance. The cam rotates 90° to secure enclosures, so they’re also known as quarter-turn locks. Made of nylon, these locks are lightweight and won’t corrode from moisture. They help keep your sealed enclosure’s contents safe from dust and water damage, maintaining your enclosure’s IP65 rating.

Two-Way-Drive Cam Locks
Open these locks with a two-way key (sold separately). Also known as a double-bit key, it’s more secure than a hex key or screwdriver, yet still matches a common keying system for industrial enclosures and other machinery. These locks also have a flat, concealed design that prevents others from tampering with them using pliers. Their cam rotates 90° to close enclosure doors, so they’re also known as quarter-turn locks.
Locks with a fixed latching distance are best when you know the precise distance you need. They’re faster to install than locks with an adjustable latching distance, since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position. To accommodate different latching distances, they come with multiple cams.
Stainless steel and plastic locks resist corrosion better than zinc locks. Plastic locks are the lightest in weight and do not conduct electricity. However, they’re easier to drill into and tamper with compared to metal locks.
Locks with a pull tab give you a spot to grab to easily open doors and panels.
IP or NEMA rated locks have a gasket that keeps dust and water from getting in through the lock.

Swing-Handle Keyed Alike Cam Locks
Often installed on server cabinets and electrical panels, these locks have a handle that swings smoothly when you lift it to latch and unlatch the door. The handle lies flat when locked, which means it won’t snag anything passing by. All have a cam that rotates to keep doors closed. Choose these locks if you need several locks that open with the same key.
Locks with an adjustable latching distance handle a wide range of latching distances, so they’re best for tasks when precise distances are unknown. Adjust the position of the cam before you begin to install them.
Stainless steel and plastic locks are more corrosion resistant than zinc locks. They won’t corrode in areas that are constantly exposed to moisture. Plastic locks are also nonconductive and lighter in weight. However, they’re easier to drill into or tamper with than metal locks.
Locks with a stainless steel shutter block rain, snow, and dirt from entering the lock cylinder, which can cause internal damage. These locks also help keep your sealed enclosure's contents safe from water damage because they help maintain an enclosure's IP rating for low-pressure washdowns.

Electronic Remote-Release Swing-Handle Keyed Alike Cam Locks
Remotely open your enclosure door with a card reader, manual release button, or other access control device. These locks have a switch that opens the lock when it receives power from your access system. They can also trigger a light, alarm, or other device to let you know when the lock is open or closed. Closing the door resets the switch. In case of emergency, these locks manually open with a key. Choose them if you need several locks that open with the same key.

Washdown Wing-Handle Cam Latches
A gasket helps keep dust and water from washdowns from entering through the latch. This helps you maintain your sealed enclosure's IP or NEMA rating. It’s harder to snag straps and other items on these wing-handle latches than on T- or L-handle latches. They have a cam that rotates to secure your enclosure.
These latches have one or more cams that each have a fixed latching distance. Since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position, these are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance.
Stainless steel and plastic latches are more corrosion resistant than zinc latches. They can be used in areas that are constantly exposed to moisture. The plastic latches are also nonconductive and lighter in weight. However, they’re easier to drill into or tamper with than the metal latches.

Tight-Hold Wing-Handle Cam Latches
It’s harder to snag straps and other items on these wing-handle latches than on T- or L-handle latches. Also known as compression cam latches, these create a tighter hold than a traditional cam latch, making them useful for doors that have a seal. Turn the head a quarter turn to latch, then turn it another quarter turn to create compression and minimize rattling from vibration. A gasket helps keep dust and water from washdowns from entering through the latch. This helps you maintain your sealed enclosure's IP or NEMA rating.
Latches with a fixed latching distance are best when you know the precise distance you need. Since you won’t have to adjust the cam into position, these are faster to install than those with an adjustable latching distance. Latches with offset cams include multiple cams, so you can change the fixed latching distance. Stainless steel and plastic latches are more corrosion resistant than zinc latches, so they're better for use in wet environments. The plastic latches are also nonconductive and lighter in weight. However, they’re easier to drill into or tamper with than the metal latches. All meet UL 94 V-0, so they will self-extinguish in the event of a fire.
Style D latches have a handle that folds down and out of the way when it’s not in use.
