Don’t knock the classics—these wood boards are a strong and affordable building material. Made of spruce, pine, or fir, they’re less dense and easier to drill and saw than hardwood, but still sturdy enough to make into crates and other load-bearing structures. Any knots are tight and spaced apart.
No. 1 Premium Softwood—No. 1 premium boards are the best grade available. They have minimal defects, so they’re good for applications where the appearance of the wood is important.
