Dowel Pins

Use dowel pins as pivots, hinges, shafts, jigs, and fixtures to locate or hold parts. For a tight fit, your hole should be equal to or slightly smaller than the diameter shown. Breaking strength is measured as double shear, which is the force required to break a pin into three pieces.
400 nickel pins and grade 2 titanium pins resist salt water and caustic chemicals. 400 nickel, also known as Monel, may be mildly magnetic.

Cotter Pins

Also known as split pins, these have one prong slightly longer than the other so they’re easy to open. Bend prongs outward to secure. Use them to secure the ends of clevis pins and shafts to keep components in place.
400 nickel pins are strong and wear resistant. They withstand salt water and caustic chemicals and may be mildly magnetic. Pins meet MS-24665 for dimensions, material, and finish. Also known as Monel.

Machine Key Stock

Cut this square or rectangular key stock to length to create a straight machine key. Straight keys are the most common type of key. Machine keys are often the same material as the shaft and other components with which they are used. To use a key as a sacrificial part, choose a softer key that will shear off when parts are exposed to excessive force, preventing damage to expensive equipment.
400 nickel key stock is the most corrosion resistant key stock in our offering and can be used in highly corrosive environments, such as those involving salt water, sulfuric acid, and alkalies. For complete corrosion resistance, 400 nickel keys are typically used with 400 nickel machine parts. Comparable to Monel, 400 nickel is also known for its strength and weldability.
Slightly smaller than the size listed in the table, undersized stock is the choice when you need a slightly looser fit or when you have an inconsistent keyway. Use it when parts need to be taken apart frequently, such as for maintenance or prototyping.
