With extremely tight flatness tolerances, these plates give you the flattest possible surface for precision measuring in layout and inspection work. Made of granite, they have a long lifespan—they won’t warp if the temperature changes, and they resist corrosion and damage from impact and scratching. If they do take damage, you can still use them, because the part that’s been scratched or chipped off doesn’t affect the flatness of the rest of the plate.

To remove particles such as dirt, oil, and grease from plates without leaving a residue, use granite cleaner (not included). This helps ensure a flat surface when measuring.

Plates with two ledges are used to hold fixtures and instruments with clamps. You can also grab onto the ledges to help you lift the plate.

Laboratory Grade AA plates have the tightest flatness tolerances in our offering. That makes them ideal for precision quality control work, such as measurement applications that require a temperature-controlled room for accuracy. Inspection Grade A plates allow for double the variation in flatness tolerance compared to grade AA plates. They’re good for final quality control work. Toolroom Grade B plates allow for double the variation in flatness tolerance compared to grade A plates. Even though they have the widest flatness tolerance we offer, it’s still about the thickness of a strand of hair. These plates are good for in-process inspection of items around a shop.

Black plates prevent glare to reduce eye strain while measuring. Red plates have a higher quartz content than black plates, so they’re better at resisting scratches and chips from items being moved on and off.

Stands provide a support system for your plate that maintains Fed. Spec. GGG-P-463c.

Plate covers protect the flatness and finish of your plates when you’re not using them. This makes them last longer and reduces how much you’ll have to refinish them.
