Also known as broach-style captive nuts, these steel nuts add permanent threads to soft metal and plastic panels. Press them into a drilled or punched hole with an arbor press or similar pressure tool. The pressure forces the panel into the knurls of the nut, keeping the nut firmly in place. Installation requires access to both sides of the panel. They are tin plated to resist corrosion from chemicals and salt water.
