Primers for Metal

Add long-term corrosion protection to uncoated or rusty metal surfaces. These primers prepare your surface to extend the life of paint and coatings. Apply with a brush, roller, or sprayer.
Acrylic primers are available in two colors. Choose gray primer for light-colored topcoats; red for dark topcoats.
Polyurethane primers can be applied in environments with high humidity or extreme temperatures. Surface must be visibly dry and free of frost and ice.

Heavy Duty Epoxy Primers for Metal

Get the power of a two-part epoxy primer in an easy-to-use aerosol can. These primers have excellent chemical and corrosion resistance. Spray them on uncoated or rusty metal to extend the life of paint and coatings. The two parts are contained in the same can; after activating, epoxy is usable for up to four days.
Rust-Converting Primers for Metal

These primers convert rust into a layer of protection that prevents new rust from forming. Use them to prepare your surface to extend the life of paint and coatings.
Apply coatings in a can with a brush, roller, or sprayer.

Galvanizing Zinc Primers for Metal

A high concentration of zinc gives these primers excellent corrosion resistance for protecting steel—when exposed to moisture and chemicals, the zinc rusts before the underlying steel can. They’re often used with structural steel to prepare the surface for paint while forming a protective layer.
Polyurethane primers can be applied in environments with high humidity. They allow underlying moisture to escape while preventing additional water from getting in. Surface must be visibly dry and free of frost and ice. Apply with a brush, roller, or sprayer.
Epoxy primers have excellent abrasion resistance. Apply with a brush or roller. The container size listed is the combined total of the three parts.

Self-Healing Primers for Metal

Extend the life of your paint and coatings on damage-prone metal surfaces. When scratched or worn, these primers release small capsules of uncured primer to provide continued corrosion resistance. Apply with a brush, roller, or sprayer. The size listed is the combined total of the two parts.
Primers cannot be sold to the listed regions due to regulatory limits on VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

Thin Film and Label Application Primers

Spray these primers onto a mounting surface to quickly and smoothly apply signs, labels, and protective films. These primers float adhesive-backed sheets above a surface until you press them down, giving you time to position the sheet and remove any wrinkles. Since the sheet doesn’t stick right away, you can apply large sheets without needing a second pair of hands. These primers also work with non-adhesive films. Even in hot or cold temperatures, your sheet will stay put.
Clean the mounting surface with primer before applying a film, so no residue is trapped underneath. Use a smoothing tool (sold separately) to squeeze out air bubbles and excess fluid. Drying time depends on application—most decals and films will dry within 90 seconds, but 3D printer sheets should dry for 24 hours before printing.
