Quick-Disconnect Garden Hose Couplings

Use these couplings if you need frequent access to a garden hose line—a complete coupling consists of a plug and a socket that connect and disconnect quickly. The compact design makes these couplings sleeker and easier to handle than cam-and-groove garden hose couplings. Couplings have a sleeve-lock socket. Connect by sliding back the sleeve on the socket, inserting the plug, and releasing the sleeve. To disconnect, slide the sleeve back and pull out the plug.

Brass couplings have good corrosion resistance and are softer than 303 stainless steel couplings, so they’re easier to thread together. 303 stainless steel couplings are more corrosion resistant than brass couplings and have better durability than brass and plastic couplings. ABS plastic couplings offer comparable corrosion resistance to 303 stainless steel couplings, but are lighter in weight.

Couplings with shut-off valve have a valve in the socket that stops the flow of water when the coupling is separated.

Cam-and-Groove Garden Hose Couplings

Use these couplings if you need frequent access to a garden hose line. A complete coupling consists of a plug and a socket (both sold separately) that connect and disconnect quickly. To connect, insert the plug into the socket and press the levers down. The levers fit snugly into the groove on the plug’s body and force the plug against the gasket to form a tight seal. To disconnect, lift both levers and pull out the plug.

Nylon plugs and sockets have good impact and abrasion resistance.

Polypropylene plugs and sockets are moisture resistant and won’t absorb water and lose strength, even in high-humidity environments.

Plugs with male threaded end are also known as F adapters.

Plugs with female threaded end are also known as A adapters.

Sockets with male threaded end are also known as B couplers.

Sockets with female threaded end are also known as D couplers.

Warning: Relieve all pressure before disconnecting the couplings. Do not use cam-and-groove couplings with compressed air or gas.
