    For use with equipment that cycles on and off, these relays meet UL 508 for air conditioning and heating. Connections are accessible from the front, so you can mount relays side-by-side. Also known as definite-purpose contactors.
    Auxiliary contacts for 3.8"-7.2" Ht. relays are also available. They allow you to add a signaling device or control another relay. Please select 6564K99, then select the McMaster-Carr part number of your relay and whether you want to switch one circuit on or off.

    Operate equipment that cycles on and off from your control cabinet. Often called definite-purpose contactors, these relays meet UL 508 for use with air conditioning and heating. Mount them directly to 35 mm DIN rail (also known as DIN 3 rail) for fast installation. They have recessed terminals that prevent fingers and other objects from touching live circuits. You can wire the control circuit on either side of the relay, which helps you use less wire.

    Heat Sinks

    With no moving parts, these solid-state relays are fast switching and require less maintenance, last longer, and are quieter than mechanical switches.
    High-Starting-Current Protection—Relays with high-starting-current protection are designed with integrated circuits that prevent damage from the large burst of electricity when a device, such as a motor or pump, turns on.
    LED Indicator—Relays with LED indicator let you quickly spot whether a relay is on or off.
    Heat Sinks—Heat sinks disperse heat to increase the relay’s current rating. Mount them to 35 mm DIN rail (also known as DIN 3 rail) for fast installation. They also mount to flat surfaces. Before mounting one-circuit relays, silicone compound or a thermal pad should be placed between the heat sink and relay. Silicone compound is sold separately for heat sinks that do not include it but require it. Two-circuit relays don’t require silicone for mounting.

    1 Circuit Controlled

    Whether installed in an electrical cabinet or hard-to-reach area, these timer relays are controlled remotely from your smartphone. They connect to your phone via a free downloadable app with NFC (Near Field Communication), so you can set time delay ranges, adjust settings, and save programs. An LED indicator on the relay shows that your switch is on and whether it’s actuated. Mount them directly to 35 mm DIN rail (also known as DIN 3 rail).
    Although these relays have 30 different functions, they all fall into 11 categories. Within these categories, you can select different functions to allow you to add a switch, program a delay, or change how the relay responds to a trigger (turning on or off, pausing, or resetting).
    Delayed Start (Delay on Make) Timer—These functions allow you to set how long it takes for the relay to turn on after input voltage is applied. For example, a drill starts pumping lubricant immediately, but it does not start rotating until the set time has elapsed.
    Delayed Switch Off (Delay on Break) Timer—These functions use a switch instead of input voltage. When the switch is turned off, the relay remains on for a programmed amount of time before turning off. For example, a projector’s light is turned off with a switch, but its cooling fan continues to run for a set time.
    Delayed Switch-On with Delayed Switch-Off Timer—This function uses a switch instead of an input voltage. It allows you to set how long it takes the relay to turn on after a switch is turned on, and how long it will stay on after the switch is turned off. For example, a furnace turns on, but the fan doesn’t start pushing air through the vents until it has been heated. When the furnace turns off, the fan keeps blowing to circulate all the hot air.
    Interval Timer—These functions use input voltage to turn on the relay for a programmed amount of time. For example, when a part moving down a conveyor reaches a certain location, a cleaning spray comes on for a set amount of time.
    Switch on (Single Shot) Timer—These functions require a switch to activate the relay, which stays on for the programmed amount of time. For example, lights in a storage room are turned on with a switch and stay on for a set time before turning off.
    Repeat-Cycle Timer—These functions start with an on cycle and then alternate between an on cycle and off cycle of equal durations until input voltage is removed, such as with a flashing light.
    Asymmetrical-Repeat-Cycle Timer—These functions start with an on-cycle and then have an off-cycle, but these cycles have different durations. The cycles repeat until input voltage is removed. For example, a sprinkler system sprays in short bursts followed by longer rest periods, on and off until input voltage is removed.
    Manual-Switch-Control Timer—Use these functions to turn the relay on and off with a switch.
    Fixed On/Off Timer—The on function keeps the relay on whenever input voltage is applied; it will only turn off if the voltage is removed. The off function keeps the relay in an off state, even if input voltage is applied.
    Switch-On Asymmetrical Repeat Cycle Timer—These functions require a switch to activate the timing function. The input voltage is applied the whole time, and when you turn the switch on, the relay begins with an on-cycle followed by an off-cycle. These cycles have different durations, and they repeat until you turn the switch off. They could be used to turn on a motor or other system for a short period and then turn it off for a longer rest period, repeating that pattern until the switch is turned off.

    If there’s a power outage, flip the toggle for each circuit on these switches to backup power. Each circuit can also be turned off completely. To prevent injury and damage to your generators, they are open transition, meaning the contacts disconnect from one power source before connecting to another. This is also known as break-before-make switching.
    Use them with a portable generator.
    NEMA 1—NEMA 1 switches should be used indoors.
    NEMA 1 with NEMA 3R Power Inlet Box—NEMA 1 switches with a power inlet box create a connection point between the switch and a portable generator. These switches should be used indoors. But their inlet box is rated NEMA 3R, so it can be mounted on the outside of an exterior wall.
    NEMA 3R—NEMA 3R switches can be used outdoors since they seal out rain, snow, and sleet.

    Housed in a durable steel enclosure, these starters have sealed coils for protection against moisture, heat, dirt, and mechanical and thermal stress. They have a solid state overload relay that extends motor life in demanding applications and protects it from overloads—starters will shut the motor off if current exceeds the full-load current rating. The relay is adjustable; set it for the exact overload current needed. All have auxiliary contacts to send a signal or connect to another device, such as an alarm or indicating light. Also known as NEMA starters.
    Note: The full-load current rating of your motor must fall within the starter’s overload current range. Match input voltage, also known as coil voltage, to your control circuit; motor voltage may be different.     Automatic Transfer Switches for Facility Lights

    Restore lighting immediately during power outages. These switches detect when your main power source goes out and shift your lights to a backup, such as a secondary utility source or generator. To comply with UL 924 and help you meet NFPA standards, they turn your lights on at full brightness even if the lights were turned off or dimmed. You can also wire these switches to your fire alarm. Pull the alarm to activate lights to full brightness during emergencies, even without an outage. All have passed testing to meet UL 1008, a safety standard for transfer switches.
    An LED indicator tells you whether lights are running on a primary or backup power source. The indicator also tells you when these switches require maintenance.
