To help prevent injuries, this padding triggers a safety stop when it’s touched. Built-in pressure sensors signal your equipment to stop moving within nine milliseconds. Install this padding anywhere contact is a concern—it’s often used on carriages, guide rails, and autonomous vehicles.
For a complete system, you’ll need a control box and enough pads to surround your equipment. All components meet international safety design standards.
    Padding

Pads are made up of a mounting base and an outer layer that contains the sensors. Made from foam, the outer layer cushions impacts and reduces the risk of injury. Pads also have built-in LEDs that change color to indicate their status. Blue means that the padding is fully operational. If a pad senses contact, it turns red, and the surrounding pads turn yellow.
To install, remove the outer layer and use the mounting holes to fasten the base to your equipment or to t-slot framing. Each pad includes a cord to connect to another pad. You can link up to 15 together.

Connect control boxes to your safety circuit to send a stop signal if any pad detects contact. They have duplicate outputs—also called redundant signals—so they’ll stop your equipment even if one output fails. Once you’ve cleared a collision, press a button to reset the safety system.
These boxes are already programmed to control up to 15 pads, so there’s no complicated configuration software or programming needed. To install, use the included cords to connect to a pad and to terminals on your PLC, relay, or controller.

Polyester fabric covers are a good choice for most painting applications. These covers are clean room laundered, HEPA dried, and individually vacuum sealed, so they won’t shed dust or fibers onto wet paint or coatings. They also absorb paint, oil, and other fluids to keep them from dripping onto your work surface. These covers protect your arm from light paint splashes and spills, but large amounts of fluid will soak through the fabric. Use the snaps on covers for Fanuc arms to easily install and remove them. Covers for Universal Robots (UR) arms are made from a stretchy fabric that hugs your arm without restricting its movement.

    PVC/Vinyl Plastic
Image of ProductInUse. Front orientation. Robot Arm Covers. PVC/Vinyl Plastic.
PVC/vinyl plastic covers are more abrasion resistant than polyester, so they’re often used for robot arms in applications such as sorting, packing, and loading. They protect your arm from dust, powders, and water-soluble coolants and cutting fluids. These covers are not waterproof, but they will provide some protection from water and other liquids.

    CSM/Vinyl Plastic
Image of ProductInUse. Front orientation. Robot Arm Covers. CSM/Vinyl Plastic.
Use CSM/vinyl plastic covers to protect your arms from heavy abrasion, such as from flying chips. They’re durable, cut and tear resistant, and they last up to three times longer than PVC/vinyl plastic covers. These covers are often used for robot arms in cutting and deburring applications. They provide some protection from water and other liquids, but they are not waterproof. They’ll also break down from amines, which are commonly found in cleaners.

They have an insulation R-value of 0.07, which means they protect your arm from extreme temperature changes.
Climate-controlled covers fill with hot or cold air to keep your robot running within its recommended operating temperature range in extreme environments, such as freezers or furnaces. The air can limit a robot’s range of motion, so only use these covers if your robot will be working consistently in very hot or cold areas. These covers require heating and cooling units (sold separately), which connect to ports in the stainless steel base of the covers.

Shield your robot arm when you cut, grind, die-cast, and debur. Made of plastic-laminated polyester, these covers stand up to heavy abrasion, such as from metal chips. They also keep dust and debris out of your robot’s joints. Although they provide some protection from splashing water, they’re not washdown rated.
These covers are tailored for specific robot models—no need to cut, sew, or customize them. They come in pieces with hook and loop seams, so installation and removal are easy.

Heat- and Weld-Spatter-Resistant Robot Arm Covers

Protect your robot arm from damage during welding. Made from an aramid-carbon blend, these covers hold up to sparks, and their aluminum coating reflects radiant heat. They also keep weld spatter from building up and weighing down the arm, so you can spend less time on maintenance. These covers are designed to fit specific robot models, so there’s no need to cut, sew, or customize them. They come in pieces that are easy to install or remove—use the hook and loop strips on the seams to join them.

    Liquid-Resistant Robot Arm Covers

Keep mist, drips, sprays, and splashes off your robot arm. Made of plastic-laminated polyester fabric, these covers resist water and other noncorrosive fluids. For example, they’re useful when your robot fetches a freshly milled part from inside a CNC machine dripping with coolant. These covers are tailored for specific robot models—no need to cut, sew, or customize. They slide on and off the arm like a sleeve. Because the fabric stretches, these covers hug your robot arm without hindering its movement. Elastic at each end clinches the arm, keeping these covers in place as it works. Each cover is clean room laundered, HEPA dried, and vacuum sealed, so they won’t bring contaminants to your process.
