    Ultra-Wear-Resistant 440C Stainless Steel Rods

    The high carbon content in this 440C stainless steel helps it withstand abrasion and wear better than any other stainless steel. Like tool steel, it can be heat treated to become extremely hard. It also maintains its corrosion resistance in temperatures up to 800° F. However, it’s more likely to break than bend from impacts. It’s often used to make bearings and valves.

    This material is precision ground to offer tighter tolerances than standard 316 stainless steel. Rods are held to a strict straightness tolerance, so they’re all set for turning in your lathe.
    One of the most corrosion-resistant types of stainless steel, 316 stands up to the harshest chemicals, including bleach, chlorine, and phosphoric acid. It's a step up from 304, which has similar strength and temperature performance. Use it in a variety of marine and chemical-processing applications. It maintains its corrosion resistance in temperatures up to 1500° F.
    316/316L Stainless Steel—Dual certified to meet both 316 and 316L requirements. The low carbon content makes this stainless steel easy to weld while maintaining strength and corrosion resistance.
