Straight and Spiral Router Bits for Wood, Particle Board, and Plywood

Create square slots, pockets, and edges in wood. These router bits are plunge cutting, letting you cut directly into the workpiece from above. They do not have a pilot, so guide your router along a straight edge when hand routing to make accurate cuts.
Bits with straight flutes are for general purpose use. They quickly remove material, leaving a rough finish. They’re made from high-speed steel. Carbide-tipped high-speed steel bits provide a longer tool life and faster cutting speeds than standard high-speed steel bits.

Straight Router Bits for Ceramics

With a diamond coating, these bits resist wear when used on ceramics and other highly abrasive material. All have a square cut style for creating slots, pockets, and edges. They do not have a pilot, so guide your router along a straight edge when hand routing to ensure straight, accurate cuts.

Trimming Router Bits

Cut layers of material flush to one another or make cuts along a template.
Carbide-tipped high-speed steel bits are for use on wood and plastic laminate.
Ball-bearing pilots guide the bit for accurate cuts and produce less friction than solid pilots for smoother operation.
Pilot location describes the position of the pilot when the bit is used for hand routing. The pilot location is reversed when using the bit with a router table. Bottom-pilot bits trim material from an upper layer of the workpiece so that it is flush with the layer below. In addition to flush trimming, they can be used to cut along a template placed below the workpiece. Top-pilot bits cut a lower layer of the workpiece flush to the layer above. In addition to flush trimming, they can be used for pattern cutting with a template placed above the workpiece.
Bits with straight flutes are for general purpose use. They quickly remove material, leaving a rough finish.
Bits with a plunge cut type let you cut directly into the workpiece from above. Other bits are best for operations where the peripheral teeth do most of the work such as trimming, contouring, and finishing.

Flush-Trimming and Chamfer Router Bits

Create straight and chamfer cuts on countertops or other plastic laminate material without changing bits. For flush trimming, hold the bit at a height where only the straight cutting edge contacts the workpiece. For chamfer cuts, use the angled cutting edge. A ball-bearing pilot guides the bit for accurate cuts and produces low friction for smooth operation. The straight flutes quickly remove material and leave a rough finish. These bits cannot make plunge cuts, so they're best for operations where the peripheral teeth do most of the work such as trimming, contouring, and finishing.
Micrograin carbide bits provide superior wear resistance, long tool life, and a cleaner finish than bits made of other materials.

Corner-Rounding Router Bits

Choose from bits that form a variety of shapes along the edges of your workpiece.
Carbide-tipped steel bits are for use on wood.
Bits with a ball-bearing pilot operate smoothly thanks to the pilot, which decreases friction and guides the bit for accurate cuts. Other bits do not have a pilot, so guide your router along a straight edge when hand routing to make accurate cuts.

Hinge and Lock Mortise Router Bits

Use these bits to create large, shallow recesses in wood, such as mortises for hinge leaves or locks. Made of carbide-tipped high-speed steel, these bits provide a longer tool life and faster cutting speeds than standard high-speed steel bits. They do not have a pilot, so guide your router along a straight edge when hand routing to make accurate cuts.
Hinge-mortise bits create shallow recesses.
Lock-mortise bits create deeper recesses for bulky lock hardware to ensure doors close flush. They require an arbor (sold separately) to connect them to your router.
