    Sanding Belts

    Smooth or shape work surfaces. Good for general purpose sanding, the aluminum oxide abrasive on these belts is tough and won’t crack under stress. These belts are often used to remove rust and paint from steel or wood surfaces. Thanks to their cloth backing, they’re flexible yet resistant to tearing.     Uniform-Finish Clog-Resistant Sanding Belts

    Like tank treads, these belts have wide gaps to collect and channel away debris as they turn. Multiple layers of abrasive arranged in a brick pattern create highly consistent finishes. The layers contain up to four times as much abrasive material as other sanding belts, so they last longer.
    The most common abrasive material, aluminum oxide is hard enough to sand most materials. It costs less than zirconia alumina but wears down faster.

    Cushioned Sanding Belts

    Create finer and more consistent finishes—these belts have a cushioned layer that creates more even sanding pressure on your workpiece. They also have a slick coating that prevents debris from accumulating on the abrasive surface and keeps operating temperatures low.
    One of the sharpest abrasives, silicon carbide cuts through steel and wood with ease. It costs less than zirconia alumina but will not last as long.
