Air-Powered Screwdrivers
Connect these tools to your shop air to install and remove fasteners.
Screwdrivers with positive clutch drive are the best choice for fastening applications where torque control is not critical. These tools require the operator to pull the trigger and apply pressure to the screw before the bit will turn. The clutch slips as soon as pressure is lifted or the maximum torque of the tool is reached.
Screwdrivers with direct drive start turning the bit as soon as the operator pulls the trigger. These tools provide a high level of control over fastening but do not have any built-in mechanism for preventing overtightening or limiting torque. Since pressure is not required for the screwdriver to turn the bit, they're good for fastening through compressible materials.

High-Precision Air-Powered Torque Screwdrivers

Air-Powered Impact Wrenches
Loosen stubborn fasteners—these wrenches operate at full torque counterclockwise to break stuck bolts free. You can also use them clockwise within their working torque range to tighten fasteners more quickly than with manual wrenches. Use these wrenches with impact sockets only. Air-powered tools require lubrication to operate properly.
D-handle grip wrenches are heavier than straight or pistol grip wrenches, so you need to use two hands to deliver their full power.
Ring-style socket retainers are good for quick socket changes—just pull the socket off the retainer and push on another one.
Ring-and-hole and hole-style socket retainers hold sockets more securely than ring-style retainers and require a retaining ring. Hole-style socket retainers are also known as positive locking retainers.

Heavy Duty Air-Powered Impact Wrenches
Built to withstand tough environments, these wrenches have steel or titanium housings to protect them if they fall. Use them when you need high force to turn fasteners. To break stuck fasteners free, apply full torque counterclockwise. To drive fasteners, turn them clockwise within the working torque range. These wrenches can only be used with impact sockets. Air-powered tools require lubrication to operate properly.
Ring-style socket retainers make it easy to quickly change sockets. Just pull the socket off the retainer and push on another one.
Ring-and-hole style and hole-style socket retainers require a retaining ring (not included).

Torque-Limiting Air-Powered Wrenches
Set torque and the wrench will prevent you from exceeding it. Also known as nutrunners, these tools are commonly used in assembly applications. They have a pin-style (also called positive locking) socket retainer that fits into a matching hole in the socket and provides a secure hold. Wrenches operate at full torque in both clockwise and counterclockwise direction. Use with impact sockets only. Air-powered tools require lubrication to operate properly.

Air-Powered Ratchet Wrenches
Faster than manual ratchet wrenches, these ratchet wrenches run on air to turn fasteners quickly. They have a steel head that protects the ratchet mechanism from bumps and drops in the shop. Socket changes are quick—the ball-detent style socket retainer lets you pull one socket off and push another one on. All operate at maximum torque in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. Air-powered tools require lubrication to run properly.
Wrenches with backlash protection won’t kick back once a fastener is tightened, keeping your knuckles from banging into nearby objects. These wrenches put a lot of force on the socket, so you’ll need to use them with an impact socket (sold separately).
