Alloy Steel Socket Head Screws

With a tensile strength of 170,000 psi, these alloy steel screws are stronger than Grade 8 steel screws. Length is measured from under the head.
Black-oxide steel screws are mildly corrosion resistant in dry environments.
Coarse threads are the industry standard; choose these screws if you don’t know the pitch or threads per inch. Screws that meet ASME B18.3, ASME B18.3.1M, ISO 21269, and ISO 4762 (formerly DIN 912) comply with specifications for dimensional standards.

Metric High-Strength Steel Heavy Hex Head Screws for Structural Applications

Designed for construction and exterior building applications, these metric screws are often used to join I-beams and scaffolding. Their partial threading leaves an unthreaded portion that is strong enough to stand up to the sideways forces of joints. Made of Class 10.9 steel, these screws are at least 25% stronger than our medium-strength steel heavy hex head screws. They also have a hot-dipped galvanized finish that makes them 10 times more corrosion resistant than zinc plating, so they won't rust in wet environments. However, this finish is thicker than other finishes, so they should be used with DIN 6916 structural washers and DIN 6915 structural hex nuts. All meet ISO 7412 (formerly DIN 6914), an international standard for screw dimensions.

Metric Threaded on Both Ends Studs

Also known as setup studs, these studs withstand sideways forces better than fully threaded studs because they have an unthreaded middle that is stronger than the treaded ends. The unthreaded middle also makes more contact with unthreaded holes, which creates better alignment than a fully threaded stud.
Black-oxide steel studs resist rusting in dry environments.
