Photoelectric Switches with Relay Output

A built-in relay produces AC voltage output. These switches are often used with older programmable logic controllers (PLCs). They detect the presence or absence of an object moving at high speeds with a light beam.
Receiver switches detect objects when an object breaks the light beam between the transmitter and receiver (both included). They have a longer sensing distance than direct-sensing and reflector switches.
IP66 rated switches protect against washdowns.

With a narrow, flat body, these switches fit in tight spaces. They detect the presence or absence of an object moving at high speeds with a light beam. Adjust the intensity of the light beam to better detect shiny or translucent objects. All are rated NEMA 4X, 13, and IP67 for protection from corrosion, oil/coolant spraying, washdowns, and temporary submersion.
Receiver switches detect objects when an object breaks the light beam between the transmitter and receiver (both included). They have a longer sensing distance than direct-sensing and reflector switches.
Switches with DC input voltage automatically produce either PNP or NPN signal output, based on the device they are connected to.
Switches with a plug connect to cables with a socket (sold separately), allowing you to quickly connect and disconnect the switch.

Easy-Install Photoelectric Switches

These switches have a transmitter and receiver built into the housing, eliminating the need to align components and measure sensing distance during installation. They detect an object moving at high speeds when it passes between the light source and receiver. They produce PNP or NPN signal output; to determine the signal output of a switch you are replacing, use Testers for Proximity and Photoelectric Switches (not included). Adjust the intensity of the light beam to better detect shiny or translucent objects. All have a plug that connects to cables with a socket (sold separately), allowing you to quickly connect and disconnect the switch.
These switches meet American, Canadian, and European safety standards. They’re rated IP67 for protection from dust and temporary submersion.
Fork switches, also known as slot sensors, have a receiver and transmitter that directly face each other. They only work with components that fit between the transmitter and receiver. Those with a laser beam have a narrower light beam than those with an LED beam, making them best for detecting small objects.
Angle switches have a receiver and transmitter that are at a right angle. Use them to detect objects that are too large to fit through fork switches, such as boxes.
Switches with an IO link connect to a programmable logic controller (PLC), so you can remotely change your settings, view measurements, and receive error messages from your PC. You need an IO link controller to connect. If you already have a controller, you must add IO link software. If you don’t, you’ll need IO link software with a configuration module, which includes a controller and cables.
Switches with PNP/NPN signal output automatically produce the type of signal output that is needed based on the device they are connected to.

Precision Photoelectric Switches

Detect objects as thin as a freshly sharpened pencil tip. These switches are best for tight spaces because they have a smaller light beam and can detect smaller objects than standard photoelectric switches. They produce PNP or NPN signal output. To determine the signal output of a switch you are replacing, use Testers for Proximity and Photoelectric Switches (not included). All are rated IP67 for protection from dust and temporary submersion. Style A direct sensing switches have an adjustable maximum sensing distance, ranging from 6" down to 1.2". Set a shorter sensing distance to minimize false triggers caused by objects in the background.
Adjustable switches can increase the intensity of the light beam to better detect shiny or translucent objects.
Receiver switches detect an object’s presence when they break the light beam between the transmitter and the receiver (both included). They have a longer sensing distance than direct sensing and reflector switches.
Add a cord to switches with an M8 Plug to quickly connect and disconnect the switch.

Light Beam Safety Barrier Switches
Immediately cut power to machinery by breaking the light beam between the two barriers. Light beams can travel up to 32 feet between the transmitter and receiver. For a complete system, combine a transmitter, receiver, safety relay, and connectors (sold separately). Switches will automatically produce PNP or NPN signal output based on the device they are connected to. To selectively allow material to pass through the sensing field, you can program the system to allow one or more beams to be broken without shutting off your machine.
Note: These switches cannot be used with a full-revolution clutch press or machine. Use only with machinery that can consistently and immediately stop anywhere in its cycle.
Safety relays have a microprocessor that monitors safety components, such as emergency stops and light curtains, and sends a signal to stop the operation if a failure is detected and restart when the issue is resolved. They also help with diagnostic tasks because of their feedback circuit, which allows basic relays to communicate their status back to the safety relay. Any system that doesn’t have a safety control component will need a safety relay.
IP67 rated components are protected from temporary submersion.

Control and diagnose issues with safety-critical circuits. These relays have a microprocessor that monitors safety components, such as emergency stops and light curtains, and sends a signal to stop the operation if a failure is detected and restart when the issue is resolved. They also help with diagnostic tasks because of their feedback circuit, which allows basic relays to communicate their status back to the safety relay. These relays have a duplicate set of input and output signals, so they’ll still stop the controlled device if one of the inputs fails.
IP20 rated, they have recessed terminals which prevent fingers and other objects from touching live circuits. These relays have been tested to multiple safety standards and can help achieve PL, SIL, or CAT system ratings. They also meet ISO and IEC standards for machine safety.
Mount them to 35 mm DIN rail (also known as DIN 3 Rail) for fast installation.
Relays and auxiliary contact blocks with delayed safety outputs are often used where power must be maintained after an input signal is received. For example, after a stop button for a machine is pressed, the guard door will stay locked until the machine cycle is finished.
Auxiliary contact blocks (sold separately) allow you to control more components, such as signaling devices or basic relays.

Sanitary Photoelectric Switches
Maintain sanitary standards—these switches have smooth surfaces without crevices, so they prevent bacteria from building up and are easy to clean. You’ll find them in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications. Made of stainless steel, they won’t corrode from frequent cleanings. All are IP68 and IP69K rated for protection against temporary submersion and high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns. Because they’re photoelectric, they don’t make contact with items like other actuators do. Instead, they use light to detect objects that are moving quickly. These switches have a plug, which connects to cables with a socket (sold separately), so you can quickly connect and disconnect the switch. Install them with brackets, clamps, extension tubes, or mounting adapters (all sold separately).
Receiver switches detect an object when it passes between the switch and the included reflector, interrupting the beam. They have a longer sensing distance than direct-sensing switches.

Extension tubes position the switch further from the panel. They can also be used to cover cable and connectors behind the panel. They fit inside the mounting brackets. Those with a height of 119 mm have a threaded cable gland which matches the size of the switch cable sealing the system. This helps maintain the sanitary ratings and withstands washdowns.

Mounting adapters help you create your own mounting tube. You can glue, press fit, or weld them. They have the same connection as the switches and mounting tubes.
