    With thickness tolerances as fine as a strand of hair, these shims precisely align, space, and level components on shafts, arbors, and machinery.
    You can stack multiple shims to achieve your exact thickness, but stacking more than four may cause them to shift. Remember, fewer shims are better, so a couple of thicker shims are more stable than a bunch of thin shims.
    18-8 Stainless Steel—The choice for wet and outdoor environments, these shims resist rust. However, they’ll corrode or pit when exposed to salt water and chemicals.
    Highly Corrosion-Resistant 316 Stainless Steel—Superior to 18-8 stainless steel, these shims won't degrade when exposed to harsh weather, salt water, and most chemicals.
    Ultra-Chemical-Resistant PTFE—The most chemical-resistant shims we offer, these stand up to the widest range of harsh acids, bases, solvents, and corrosive cleaners, even at temperatures up to 500° F. They also won't mar delicate surfaces.
    Color-Coded Plastic—These shims are color coded by thickness to quickly spot and grab the right size every time. Softer than metal, they won't mar delicate surfaces and they will never rust.

    Slip these shims around existing mounting fasteners to precisely align and level components such as pumps, compressors, and gearboxes with motors, all without disassembling them. They’re also good for leveling machines on uneven surfaces.     Stress-Resistant Spring Steel—Harder and holds its shape better than carbon steel. Use it for high-stress applications, such as leveling heavy machinery. It's best for dry areas since moisture will cause it to rust.
    Painted Aluminum—An alternative to stainless steel for rust resistance but less hard so it may not retain its shape. One-third the weight of steel, it's often used in robotics and automation.

    Shims for Lengthening Screw Shoulders

    When shoulders come up short, use these shims to extend the shoulder length on your screw. Wiggle the shims over the threads and up to the existing shoulder to create the exact shoulder length you need. Use them to create more space for bearings, pulleys, and sprockets, or extend the length of travel along the shoulder.
    You can stack multiple shims to achieve the exact shoulder length or space you need.
    18-8 Stainless Steel—The choice for wet and outdoor environments, these shims resist rust. However, they’ll corrode or pit when exposed to salt water and chemicals.

    Shims for Keyed Shafts

    With a notch or tab, these shims fit snugly on keyed shafts to align and space gears, sprockets, and bearings. On keyed arbors, they’re often used to accurately space saw blades and cutters.
    You can stack multiple shims to achieve your exact thickness, but stacking more than four may cause them to shift. Remember, fewer shims are better, so a couple of thicker shims are more stable than a bunch of thin shims.
