Noise-Filtering Stethoscopes
Isolate individual sounds during inspections. These stethoscopes amplify internal sounds so they’re loud enough to hear, while the included set of headphones filters out background noise for clarity. They’re often used to detect mechanical problems and leaks. Reach the included probe into the area you’re inspecting for precise listening. All include either multiple probes or a probe extension for hard-to-reach areas.
Dial display stethoscopes are commonly used in vehicles to help identify issues such as worn bearings, broken gear teeth, and wind and air leaks. Set their sensitivity to match your environment using the high/low switch. High sensitivity will better detect quiet sounds but might be too reactive in loud environments. Low sensitivity is a better choice for noisy environments, since loud sounds can damage your hearing when further amplified.
Digital display stethoscopes are an upgrade from those with a dial display. Designed for sophisticated machinery, they’re often used to inspect precision bearings. A user-friendly screen makes it easy to operate these stethoscopes with no special training. Volume levels are displayed both in digits and graphs so you can accurately compare across multiple measurements. An output jack lets you connect a recording device to document sounds, so you can play back noises to track progress and confirm issues are resolved. They come with recorded example noises to teach you the sounds of both functioning parts and specific problems—a damaged outer ring, for example—so you can pinpoint issues before opening your equipment.

Noise-Filtering Stethoscopes with Microphone Clamps

Attach microphones to different spots on running machines or vehicles to amplify squeaks, knocking, and rattling from worn parts. To help you isolate sounds, these stethoscopes come with headphones that reduce background noise.
Stethoscopes with a dial control connect to six microphone clamps with color-coded wire leads. Turn the dial to listen to each one in turn, so you can pinpoint the source of a sound.
Stethoscopes with a touch screen control let you select and mute each microphone on a bright LCD screen. They include both color-coded wireless transmitters and microphone clamps—you can mount them separately to listen in on hard-to-reach spots.
