Silicon carbide is one of the sharpest abrasives. It’s good for cutting fast under light pressure, but wears out faster than ceramic alumina. Ceramic alumina is sharp and dense. Its grit continually fractures, producing new, sharp cutting edges to cut twice as fast and lasts twice as long as silicon carbide.

Extra coarse grade is good for heavy cleaning and stripping. It aggressively cuts the surface so that it’s clean for further processing such as coating, painting, or soldering.

Coarse and medium grades blend your surface and remove weld lines, spatter, and discoloration in one step. They can also remove rust and surface imperfections. Coarse discs remove heavier amounts of rust than medium. Medium discs can also be used on softer metals and alloys.
