What separates a throwaway ruler from one you’ll keep for decades, which type is best for everyday use, and how to compare materials.

    Rulers for Floors

Image of Product. Front orientation. Rulers. Rulers for Floors.
Take repeated measurements of chain slings and other objects too heavy or too long to lift onto a workbench. These rulers have an adhesive back that permanently sticks to the floor. Made of polyester with a tough polycarbonate coating, they resist ripping even when run over by forklifts. They're also textured, so you can walk on them without worrying about slipping. No need to get up close to read these rulers—their graduations are large and spaced out over a yellow background, making them easy to see.

Liquid in tank tape measures have a cylindrical plumb bob that sinks to the bottom of the tank. The blade indicates the distance to the surface of the liquid.
Chrome-Plated Steel—Chrome-plated steel blades are for measuring dark liquids.
Chrome-Plated Steel with Black Blade Stripe—Chrome-plated steel blades with black stripe are for measuring dark and clear liquids. The black stripe makes it easy to see the level of clear liquids.
Plumb Bobs—Use as a weight on the end of your blade.
Rubber Blade Wiper—Strip excess liquid off of a blade as it is reeled in. These wipers fit all Liquid-Level Tape Measures.

    Measures Liquid Removed from Tank
Image of Specification. Front orientation. ZoomedIn view. Contains Annotated, MultipleImages. Liquid-Level Tape Measures. Measures Liquid Removed from Tank.
Liquid removed from tank tape measures have a rectangular plumb bob. To find the amount of liquid removed from a tank, lower the plumb bob until it makes contact with the liquid’s surface, then add the measurement from the plumb bob to the measurement from the blade. To determine the amount of liquid in the tank, subtract the liquid removed from tank measurement from the overall tank height.
