Choose them for setups that change often, such as prototypes and testing. They even have test sockets to safely test voltage after installation. Ring terminals encircle the whole the screw shank, so they stay put better than spade and hook terminals when vibrated or pulled. Attach wire with a crimping tool to avoid a damaged barrel and loose connection.

Set screw lugs are easier to install than compression lugs, and they can be reused because you don't crush the barrel to attach the wire. They don't hold the wire as securely as compression lugs, however—use them when pulling and bending aren't a concern and you need to easily break your connection for maintenance or adjustments.
