Key-Locking Threaded Insert Broaching Tools

Give the keys on your key-locking insert a head start in hard materials such as A286 stainless steel. Similar to a pilot hole for a screw, these tools punch a notch in the surface so keys have an entry point into your material. They’re useful for locking threaded inserts into material that’s harder than the insert. The blades are uncoated, which you can replace when they wear out.

To use, screw the insert to the desired depth and mark the key locations. Remove the insert, align the tool with the marks, and strike it with a hammer to punch the slots.

Coated Installation Tool Blades—Coated blades make up to three times as many cuts as uncoated blades before wearing out.
