    About Sleeve Bearings

Choose a sleeve bearing that matches your load and speed requirements and that's right for your environment.

    Vibration-Damping Oil-Embedded Sleeve Bearings

Image of Product. Front orientation. Sleeve Bearings. Vibration-Damping Oil-Embedded Sleeve Bearings.
These bearings quiet equipment by absorbing vibration. The rubber layer on the inside of these bearings flexes to align the shaft and reduce rattling. The bronze core is made from porous metal and saturated with oil to reduce maintenance and downtime. They’re used in compressors, engine mounts, and other vibrating equipment that suddenly starts and stops.
With no moving parts, sleeve bearings are the simplest way to support the load of a rotating shaft while reducing friction. Also known as plain bearings.
841 Bearing Bronze with Steel Shell—The economical choice for dry environments where corrosion is not a concern. The carbon steel shell supports heavy loads but can’t resist rust as well as 304 stainless steel.
841 Bearing Bronze with 304 Stainless Steel Shell—The choice for most wet locations. These bearings won't corrode after washdowns and can stand up to most detergents and oil.
Mineral Oil Base—Mineral oil consistently lubricates at most temperatures but doesn’t last as long as synthetic oil.
Synthetic Oil Base—A high-quality lubricant makes all the difference. Synthetic oil is less sensitive to temperature changes than mineral oil, so it won't get runny and leak away at higher temperatures.

    Vibration-Damping Oil-Embedded Mounted Sleeve Bearings

Image of Product. Front orientation. Contains Annotated. Mounted Bearings. Vibration-Damping Oil-Embedded Mounted Sleeve Bearings.
Soak up vibrations to muffle the rumbles from heavy machinery. The rubber layer on the inside of these simple sleeve bearings flexes to align the shaft and reduce rattling. They're often used with compressors and other equipment that suddenly starts and stops. Made from porous, oil-saturated bronze, these bearings release their own lubrication on startup, reducing the need for frequent relubrication.
With no moving parts, sleeve bearings stand up to dusty, dirty conditions better than ball bearings. However, with more friction generated, they're less effective at high speeds.
Steel Housing—Best for dry environments as moisture will cause them to rust.
Misalignment Capability—Bearings compensate for as much shaft misalignment as the degree listed. This extends the life of the bearing and protects against wear if shafts are slightly askew.

    Dry-Running Metal-Reinforced Plastic Sleeve Bearings

Image of Product. Front orientation. Sleeve Bearings. Dry-Running Metal-Reinforced Plastic Sleeve Bearings.
Combine slippery plastic with the strength of metal. The PTFE core is naturally slippery, so you’ll never have to add lubricant. These bearings also keep your workspace clean with no lubricant to drip or flake and attract dust. Compared to all-metal bearings, they are lighter.
With no moving parts, sleeve bearings are the simplest way to support the load of a rotating shaft while reducing friction. Also known as plain bearings.
PTFE with Aluminum Shell—A lightweight upgrade from our steel shell. These bearings also offer good corrosion resistance similar to stainless steel but aren’t as strong.

Quick-Mount Ball Bearings for Food and Beverage

Image of Product. Front orientation. Ball Bearings. Quick-Mount Ball Bearings for Food and Beverage, Clamp-On Shaft Mount.

    Clamp-On Shaft

    Mount

You don't need any special tools to install these bearings in food production areas. Slip them onto a shaft and secure with the turn of a screw for easy mounting. Greased with NSF-registered H1 lubricant, these bearings are safe to install on food-processing equipment, such as conveyor belts, so long as they don’t directly touch the food. They're IP69K rated, so they'll stand up to the hot water from a pressure washer when cleaning your facility at the end of the day.
Clamp-On Shaft Mount—The clamp tightens around the shaft for a strong 360° grip. These mounts attach more securely than set screws to reduce vibration. Plus, there aren't any screws pressing into the shaft, so it stays free from damage. Also known as a concentric lock.
Corrosion-Resistant Nickel-Plated Steel—These bearings resist mild chemicals, such as the ammonia in cleaning solutions, while maintaining the strength of steel. The nickel coating can wear or chip over time, though. If it does, the steel beneath will rust quickly.
Sealed—The best choice for dirty environments. A barrier seals out dust so it won't gunk up or wear down the balls. However, these bearings retain the most heat since air can't flow through.
ABEC Rating—Bearings with an ABEC rating meet industry tolerance standards established by the Annular Bearing Engineers Committee (ABEC). They're rated on a scale from 1 to 9. The higher the rating, the tighter the tolerance. Bearings rated ABEC 1 or 3 are precise enough for most applications. If your application consistently runs at high speeds or requires high accuracy, consider bearings rated ABEC 5 or higher, since they generate less friction and heat.

Black-Oxide Steel—Strong and wear resistant. However, these bearings are best for dry environments since moisture will cause them to rust.
Shielded—The balls are covered just enough to keep out large particles while allowing air to pass through and dissipate heat.

Smoother than smooth—the balls inside these bearings roll nearly friction-free. The sturdy housing bolts down to support shafts as they turn.
Lubricate regularly to keep your bearing in tip-top shape. Bearings with seals and shields keep lubricants in and contaminants out, and come packed with grease. Open bearings require initial lubrication and offer less protection against dust and debris.
Powder-Coated Cast Iron Housing—A rugged iron base coated in thick powder that protects against water, mild detergents, and oil. However, if the coating is scratched or chipped, the underlying iron may rust.
Clamp On—Tighten the clamping screw to close the collar around your shaft for a secure, mar-free grip. The collar centers the shaft, decreasing vibration and allowing for higher speeds than set screws. Also known as concentric lock bearings.
SKF—Manufactured in Europe with a strong focus on precision. The more precise the bearing, the more efficiently it will run.
Misalignment Capability—Bearings compensate for as much shaft misalignment as the degree listed. This extends the life of the bearing and protects against wear if shafts are slightly askew.

Light Duty Dry-Running Mounted Sleeve Bearings

Image of Product. Front orientation. Contains Annotated. Mounted Bearings. Light Duty Dry-Running Mounted Sleeve Bearings.
With simple, lightweight designs, these bearings are a cost-effective option when extreme precision isn't necessary. Less stable than bearings with forged, one-piece housings, they're good for hand-cranked systems, gravity feed conveyor rollers, and other low-speed applications. The sleeve inside is made from naturally slick plastic, so there's no messy grease to drip off, wash out, or collect dust. With no moving parts, sleeve bearings stand up to grimy environments better than ball bearings. However, with more friction generated, they're less effective at high speeds.
UHMW Polyethylene Housing—Virtually impervious to moisture, these solid plastic housings keep their shape during washdowns. However, they aren't suitable for steam cleanings and other high-temperature treatments.
