Flame and Arc-Flash Cold-Protection Hats

These hats meet NFPA 70E standards for protection against electrical arc flashes for personal protection equipment (PPE) category 2. Check the PPE category and minimum arc rating provided for your workplace, and then select all required clothing and personal protective equipment to meet the minimum arc rating. Arc rating measures a garment’s ability to insulate the wearer from burns; the higher the arc rating, the greater the flame resistance. These hats are made of abrasion-resistant aramid/viscose blend fabric, which keeps you warm without accumulating moisture.

Cold-Protection Hats with Lights

Light up your space when you’re working in cold conditions. These hats have built-in LEDs, so you don’t need to wear a headlamp or hold a flashlight. Made of stretchy fabric, they fit snugly on your head to trap heat. Press a button on the front of the hat to turn the lights on or off. You can also use the button to change the distance setting: the beam angles down for close-up tasks or illuminates up to 72 feet ahead. These hats come with four replaceable batteries that power the lights for up to 68 hours.

Flame- and Arc-Flash-Protection Hard Hat Liners

Often used in utility work, metalworking, and welding, these hard-hat liners meet NFPA 70E to protect from flames and electrical arc flashes. They also shield your head and nape from the wind and cold. Secure the liner to your hard hat with the attached hook and loop tabs on each side. Choose a hard-hat liner that meets the arc rated personal protective equipment (PPE) category required by your workplace.

Covers Head, Nape, and Neck—Liners with head, nape, and neck coverage have two layers of insulation inside the flame-resistant shell to protect against the cold: a mid-layer of aramid/modacrylic fabric and an inner layer of cotton/modacrylic fleece.

Removable Nape Cover—Liners with a removable nape cover allow you to cool off your nape by zipping off the back. With the nape cover removed, the liner protects the head like a cap.

Warming Pad Slots—Use liners with warming pad slots for extra warmth around the ears—slip hand warmer pads (sold separately) into the slots on each side.

Cold-Protection Clothing Kits

Shield your torso, face, and hands from extremely cold materials, such as liquid nitrogen and dry ice. These kits include a cryogenic apron and gloves that withstand temperatures as cold as -320° F. Made of Cordura nylon fabric, the aprons are waterproof and resist cuts. They have adjustable neck and waist straps with buckles for quick removal. A breathable liner in the nylon gloves wicks moisture. Their open cuff design lets you easily slip them on and off. These kits also have a polycarbonate face shield that blocks splashes and won’t easily crack if dropped. Unlike standard face shields, these shields won’t fog up when cold liquids splash them. The face shield has a ratchet adjustment in the back and a pinlock adjustment in the front, so you can get a comfortable fit.
