Building Cable Strippers

Remove the outer and inner insulation of NM-B building cable, commonly found inside your walls running power to light fixtures and switches. These strippers have a plier nose, which is useful for pulling and looping wire.
Strippers with a voltage detector have a handle that flashes and beeps when they detect a live circuit.
Steel strippers stay sharp with continuous use.
Stainless steel strippers resist corrosion and won't rust as quickly as strippers with steel blades when stored. They're best for less frequent use because their blades dull more quickly than steel blades.

Squeeze-and-Strip Building Cable Strippers

With just a squeeze, strip and remove outer insulation from your cable. These strippers require less effort than standard strippers or stripping knives because you don’t need to manually peel the insulation. The blade automatically adjusts to the outer diameter of your cable to remove a layer of insulation. They’re often used on NM-B cable (also known as Romex) since you can strip the cable jacket and the insulation on the individual wires without changing settings in between. Turn the adjustment knob to fine-tune the position of the blades so you don’t nick inner insulation, thin wires, or stranded wire. Set your strip length with the stop for consistent strips across multiple cables.

Confined-Space Building Cable Strippers

Angled jaws let you insert building cable into the front of these strippers, so they’re useful in tight spots, such as inside electrical boxes. These tools remove the outer and inner insulation of NM-B cable. It’s the cable you’ll often find inside your walls running power to light fixtures and switches.
