Steel Twist-Resistant Rivet Nuts

Made of steel, these rivet nuts add strong, reusable threads to sheet metal and other material that’s too thin to tap. Their ribbed body grips material better than smooth-body rivet nuts, so they won't twist when you tighten a screw. Also known as blind inserts, they can be installed when you have access to only one side of the material. With a zinc yellow-chromate plating, these nuts resist corrosion in wet environments.
Install these nuts in a drilled or punched round hole using a rivet nut tool. The tool collapses the nut, creating a backside flange that holds the nut to the material.
Length is measured from under the flange. Installed length is the maximum length of the barrel when installed.

Stainless Steel Twist-Resistant Rivet Nuts

Made of 18-8 stainless steel, these rivet nuts withstand water, mild chemicals, and outdoor conditions better than zinc-plated steel nuts. A ribbed body grips surrounding material to hold them in place, keeping them from spinning as you tighten screws. Rivet nuts create permanent threads in sheet metal and other surfaces that are too thin to be tapped. They’re also known as blind inserts—installation requires access to just one side of your material. The flange distributes the load and holds them against the surface.
Secure them in a drilled or punched round hole with a wrench- or power-driven rivet nut tool. The tool collapses the nut, creating a backside flange that holds the nut to the material.
Length is measured from under the flange. Installed length is the maximum length of the barrel when installed.

Steel Rivet Nuts

Add strong threads to sheet metal and other thin surfaces. Zinc plating protects these rivet nuts from degrading in wet environments. They’re also known as blind inserts—installation requires access to just one side of your material. Install them in a drilled or punched round hole using a rivet nut tool. The tool collapses the nut, creating a backside flange that holds the nut to the material.
Length is measured from under the flange. Installed length is the maximum length of the barrel when installed.
Steel Low-Profile Rivet Nuts

These steel low-profile rivet nuts are about twice as strong as aluminum rivet nuts. They have a low profile for light duty fastening in low-clearance applications. A cadmium or tin-zinc plating provides corrosion resistance and adds lubricity so they collapse smoothly. The threaded portion is drawn into the sleeve when installed, creating pressure against the hole to secure the nut. Drill bit size listed in the table is for material with a 0.030"-0.090" thickness. These rivet nuts may be installed in thicker material, but may require larger holes. Install them using a hand- or power-driven rivet nut tool. Length is measured from under the flange. Installed length is the maximum length of the barrel when installed.

Flush-Mount Rivet Nuts
With an angled head, these rivet nuts sit flush in countersunk holes. Use them to create reusable threads in sheet metal and other surfaces that are too thin to be tapped. Installation requires access to just one side of your material. Made of steel, all have either a zinc or zinc yellow-chromate plating to resist corrosion in wet environments.
Install them in a drilled or punched countersunk hole with a rivet nut tool. The tool collapses the nut, creating a backside flange that holds the nut to the material.

Lever-Style Rivet Nut Tools
Use two hands to maximize leverage when installing rivet nuts. These tools require a mandrel and nosepiece. To use, thread the nut onto the mandrel, insert the nut into a drilled hole, and squeeze the handles to secure the nut.
High-leverage tools are about 50% longer than standard tools, giving you extra power for installing rivet nuts. They’re also compatible with rivet studs. Adjust the stroke length to match the size of your rivet nut and workpiece. Unlike tools with a fixed stroke length, you don’t need to manually control the amount of force. You can squeeze the handles all the way shut to install the rivet nut without damaging the rivet or deforming your material. These tools include a mandrel and nosepiece for 1/4"-20 rivet nuts. To install rivet nuts in other sizes, you'll need to use a mandrel and nosepiece set. To install rivet studs, you’ll need a nosepiece.
Tools with knob removal have a spin-to-reverse knob to quickly unthread the mandrel from the installed nut.

Lever-Style Rivet Nut Tools with Visual Stroke Indicator
Confirm rivet nuts are installed just right—the indicator on these tools ensures you’ve applied the right amount of force. Unlike fixed-stroke tools, you don’t need to manually control the amount of force you apply. Just set your stroke length based on your rivet nut size and workpiece thickness, then squeeze the handles all the way shut to install. The indicator verifies you’ve compressed the nut properly. These tools are 50% longer than standard lever-style tools, giving you extra leverage for installation.
Mandrel and nosepiece sets are required and sold separately. Thread the rivet nut onto the mandrel and insert the nut into a drilled hole, then squeeze the handles to secure the nut.
Tools with plunger removal install smooth and ribbed body rivet nuts. They have a quick-acting, pull-to-remove plunger that unthreads the mandrel from the installed nut.

Single-Size Air-Powered Rivet Nut Tools
Use compressed air to install rivet nuts with less effort than manual tools. Tailored to specific thread sizes, these tools rotate a rivet nut with the exact force needed to collapse it onto your workpiece. They’re smaller and lighter than other powered rivet nut tools, so you can squeeze them into tighter spaces. However, they generate less force, so they’re not recommended for installing nuts into thick materials.

Air-Powered Rivet Nut Tools
Install any size or style of rivet nut with a single tool. When you connect these tools to your compressed air line, the hydraulic fluid inside is pressurized, which generates the force needed to collapse a rivet nut. They’re also known as hydropneumatic rivet nut tools. Rather than rotating the rivet nut, like single-size rivet nut tools, these tools pull it straight back. This means you can adjust the pull force or stroke depth to match your application. Set the pull force if you’re installing rivet nuts into workpieces with different thicknesses. Set the stroke depth to install rivet nuts in soft or fragile materials without cracking or warping the surface.
Use tools with a 7,190 lb. pulling force to install rivet nuts made from hard materials, such as titanium. They’re also good for large nut sizes. However, they take about three times longer to install a nut than tools with a 3,960 lb. pulling force.

Pull Force Calibrators for Rivet Nut Tools

Avoid failed rivet nuts by periodically testing the pull force of your rivet nut tool. These calibrators work with air-powered and hydraulic/air-powered rivet nut tools. They display force measurements on two digital touch screens. The left screen shows a graph and read-out of current pulling force, while the right screen shows the results of the last seven tests. Track performance to plan maintenance—they store test data on the included microSD card.
An anvil and mandrel assembly (sold separately) is required. Choose a thread size that matches your tool. Thread the anvil and mandrel assembly onto the calibrator to begin testing.
