About Sealant Flexibility
More
Structural Sealants

These structural sealants combine the mechanical strength of an adhesive with excellent sealing properties and high flexibility. They’re non-sagging, so they won't drip from vertical and overhead surfaces.
Elongation and joint compression/expansion tolerance indicate flexibility—the higher the values are, the more joint movement sealants can sustain. For joints between dissimilar materials and in environments with wide temperature fluctuation, choose a sealant with a higher elongation or joint compression/expansion tolerance. For high-wear applications, choose a harder sealant for the most abrasion resistance.

Structural Oil- and Fuel-Resistant Sealants
Impervious to the swelling effects of oils, fuels, and solvents, use this high-strength silicone sealant to assemble and repair fuel systems and tanks. Silicone forms a tough, rubbery, UV-resistant seal that remains flexible over time. It's non-sagging, so it won't drip from vertical and overhead surfaces. Also known as RTV (room-temperature vulcanizing).
Elongation and joint expansion/compression tolerance indicate flexibility—the higher the values are, the more joint movement sealants can sustain. This sealant is best suited to joints between similar materials that aren't exposed to wide temperature fluctuation.

Non-Hardening Thread Sealants

Often used in high-vibration applications that could cause standard thread sealants to fail, these never fully harden and remain pliable enough to self-heal and stop leaks before they start. They have low locking strength, so they can be adjusted without tools.
To adhere to safety standards for drinking water systems, use sealants that meet NSF/ANSI 61.
Sealants that cannot be sold to the listed regions are restricted due to local VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) regulations.

Thread Sealant Cord

Wind this multifilament cord into the grooves of tapered pipe threads to quickly create a seal. It can be applied to metal pipe up to size 4 NPT and plastic pipe up to size 1 1/2 NPT. The container includes a built-in cutter for fast application. After tightening, pipe can be loosened up to an eighth of a turn without leaking. Sealant meets NSF/ANSI 61 for use with drinking water in systems up to 180° F.

High-Strength Concrete Joint Sealants

Seal concrete joints in high-traffic areas—these sealants stand up to heavy wear and tear, such as steel wheel traffic. They're non-sagging, so they won't drip from vertical and overhead surfaces. Made from silicone, sealants are RTV (room-temperature vulcanizing).
Elongation and joint compression/expansion tolerance indicate flexibility—the higher the values are, the more joint movement sealants can sustain. These sealants are best suited to joints between similar materials that aren't exposed to wide temperature fluctuation. For high-wear applications, choose a harder sealant for the most abrasion resistance.
