    Shim Stock

Image of Product. Front orientation. Shim Stock. Sold Individually.
Cut into custom shapes to create shims that suit your needs. With thickness tolerances as fine as a strand of hair, the shims will precisely align, space, and level components on dies, presses, and machinery.
You can stack multiple shims to achieve your exact thickness, but stacking more than four may cause them to shift. Remember, fewer shims are better, so a couple of thicker shims are more stable than a bunch of thin shims.
Sheets—Shim stock comes in sheets that are flat packed.
Stress-Resistant Spring Steel—Harder and holds its shape better than carbon steel. Use it for high-stress applications, such as leveling heavy machinery. It's best for dry areas since moisture will cause it to rust.
Temper Rating—Choose half hard to create shims that you’ll need to bend or shape. Opt for full hard to make stronger shims that will maintain their shape under loads.

    Peel-Away Multilayer Shim Stock

Image of ProductInUse. Front orientation. Shim Stock. Peel Away, Sold Individually, Multilayer.
Fine-tune thickness without worrying about stacking multiple shims. Cut the shim stock into custom shapes that suit your needs. It's made of metal layers bonded with adhesive—peel off the layers with a utility knife until you reach your desired thickness. To make peeling easier, warm the created shims to soften the adhesive. With thickness tolerances as fine as a strand of hair, the shims will precisely align, space, and level components on dies, presses, and machinery.
18-8 Stainless Steel—The choice for wet and outdoor areas because it resists rust. However, it will corrode or pit when exposed to salt water and chemicals.
Carbon Steel—Best for dry areas since moisture will cause it to rust.
Aluminum—An alternative to stainless steel for rust resistance but less hard so it may not retain its shape. One-third the weight of steel, it's often used in robotics and automation.
Brass—Picked for its warm, polished look. Similar to 18-8 stainless steel, it resists rusting in wet and outdoor areas.
Polyimide—Originally designed for military aircraft, it’s used in everything from aerospace to electronics where weight, electrical insulation, and precision are vital.
Temper Rating—Choose half hard to create shims that you’ll need to bend or shape. Opt for full hard to make stronger shims that will maintain their shape under loads.

    Split Lock Washers

Image of Product. Front orientation. Lock Washers. Split-Lock Washer.
Stop nuts and screws from loosening due to mild vibration. As you tighten, the uneven ends bite into the nut or screw so it won't back out. While they're not as vibration resistant as other lock washers, they are a great fit for electrical panels, light fixtures, and other light duty assemblies. Split lock washers are not reusable, and they only work with fasteners that have right-hand threads.
18-8 Stainless Steel—The choice for wet and outdoor environments, these washers won't rust when exposed to moisture. However, they can't hold up to the harsh chemicals that 316 stainless steel can.
Black-Oxide 18-8 Stainless Steel—Typically chosen for their appearance, these washers have a dark, matte coating to create a finished look. They won't rust in wet and outdoor environments, but can't hold up to harsh chemicals as well as 316 stainless steel.
Super-Corrosion-Resistant 316 Stainless Steel—Superior to 18-8 stainless steel, these washers won't degrade when exposed to harsh weather, salt water, and most chemicals.
Zinc-Plated Steel—A common choice for areas with occasional exposure to moisture.
Zinc-Yellow-Chromate-Plated Steel—With the same corrosion resistance as zinc-plated steel, these withstand occasional exposure to moisture.
Black-Oxide Steel—Typically chosen for their appearance, these washers have a dark, matte coating that creates a finished look. They offer minimal corrosion resistance, so they're best for dry environments.
Steel—Best for dry environments since moisture will cause these washers to rust.
Corrosion-Resistant Galvanized Steel—These washers combine the strength of steel with the rust resistance of stainless steel. They're an alternative to 18-8 stainless steel in wet and outdoor environments, but they won't hold up to salt water and chemicals.
Super-Corrosion-Resistant Zinc-Flake-Coated Steel—With 40 times the corrosion resistance of zinc-plated steel, these withstand rust as well as 316 stainless steel. They have been tested to extreme standards, including 1,000 hours of salt spray. They are similar to Magni-coated washers.
Aluminum—One-third the weight of steel, these washers are commonly used for assemblies that have weight limits. They're an alternative to stainless steel for rust resistance, but aren't as strong.
Super-Corrosion-Resistant Silicon Bronze—The choice for marine environments, these washers won't rust or deteriorate when submerged in salt water. They resist corrosion as well as 316 stainless steel, but are not quite as strong.

    Mil. Spec. Split Lock Washers

Image of Product. Front orientation. Lock Washers. Split-Lock Washer, Mil. Spec..
These washers are manufactured and tested to strict U.S. military standards for material and construction. As you tighten, the uneven ends bite into the nut or screw so it won't loosen due to mild vibration. While they don't hold as tightly as other lock washers, they are a great fit for electrical panels, light fixtures, and other light duty assemblies. Split lock washers are not reusable, and they only work with fasteners that have right-hand threads.
Passivated 18-8 Stainless Steel—The choice for wet and outdoor environments, these washers won't rust when exposed to moisture.
Super-Corrosion-Resistant Passivated 316 Stainless Steel—Superior to 18-8 stainless steel, these washers won't degrade when exposed to harsh weather, salt water, and most chemicals.
Super-Corrosion-Resistant Black-Oxide 316 Stainless Steel—Combines a finished appearance with the rust resistance of 316 stainless steel. Even if the coating wears off, these washers will hold up in just about any environment, including salt water and most chemicals.
Zinc-Yellow-Chromate-Plated Steel—With the same corrosion resistance as zinc-plated steel, these withstand occasional exposure to moisture.
Corrosion-Resistant Cadmium-Plated Steel—The finish creates a better barrier against rust than zinc plating for use in wet and outdoor environments.

    Tab Lock Washers

Image of Product. Bottom orientation. Lock Washers. Tab-Lock Washer, 2 Tabs.

    2 Tabs

Instead of relying on friction, these washers lock mechanically for more holding power than split and tooth lock washers. Bend the tabs with a wrench to stop both the fastener and washer from rotating. They are often used in applications with moderate vibration, such as motors, mixers, and pumps. These washers are not reusable because the tabs will weaken if you bend them repeatedly.
18-8 Stainless Steel—The choice for wet and outdoor environments, these washers won't rust when exposed to moisture. However, they can't hold up to the harsh chemicals that 316 stainless steel can.
Zinc-Plated Steel—A common choice for areas with occasional exposure to moisture.
2 Tabs—Also known as pantleg washers, these have two tabs for a more secure hold than washers with one tab. Bend one tab up against the flats of your nut or screw and the other tab down over the edge of your mounting surface.

    Coil Lock Washers

Image of Product. Front orientation. Lock Washers. Coil Washer.
Washers flatten under pressure and push against the nut or screw to stop it from backing out. The double coil adds more tension than split lock washers for a tighter hold on materials that contract and expand, such as plastic and wood. These washers are reusable a handful of times, but their holding power decreases with each use.
Corrosion-Resistant Galvanized Steel—These washers combine the strength of steel with the rust resistance of stainless steel. They're an alternative to 18-8 stainless steel in wet and outdoor environments, but they won't hold up to salt water and chemicals.
